device question to watch netflix

Roku. My 70 year old mom that can't check her email figured it out in a few minutes after she learned murder she wrote was an option.

Get him a roku load the que for him he'll be fine.

Does anyone know if there's any device out there that doesn't need a high speed internet connection to use? We can't get cable or DSL and my kids regularly blow through the 15GB satellite internet we have now.

Ouch. Netflix is high-speed internet based. And the way we watch Netflix, I think we can go through 15 GB in two or three days.

So no, there isn't any device out there that would help.

That's what I thought. I was really hoping there was some new technology that will work in our situation. One of these years...

The really stupid thing is they upgraded the boxes you see on the side of the road every so often, I can't think what they're called, maybe switching stations or transformers, about 4 years ago. The technicians that did the upgrade said they totally rewired them, they were for DSL, and that particular set of boxes is maybe 1 3/4 miles from the house by road. We should have gotten DSL 4 years ago, but they never did offered DSL to anyone in the area. It's all around us, but our one little area is like an island with no service, and those upgraded boxes are still sitting there providing regular phone service but no DSL.
