Today I booked a one bedroom and two bedroom at AKV for February 2009 using a combination of developer and vacation points. The two bedroom reservation is displayed on my DVC website. The one bedroom reservation is not displayed. MS said that I will be sent a reservation form in the mail since I was using developer points but the room has been blocked out. Is this accurate? This is my first booking and will be my first visit "Home."

It seems inconsistent at best -- some people report that nothing related to their development points shows on the web site, but my developer point ressie did show up.

Either way, it takes quite a while -- regular point reservations are done through the computer. Developer point reservations are done through a manual process and it takes a lot longer, I guess -- our ressie with the developer points didn't show up on the web site for many, many weeks. We already had the paper confirmation before it ever did. I wouldn't worry about it unless you don't get a paper confirmation in the mail.

Don't worry, sounds like everything is fine. There have been some reports of Developer point ressies showing up on the website, but most of the time they won't because they're not "your" points (they're the developers points), so they're not in "your" account. Hope that makes sense :goodvibes

Are some people's developer points allowed to be used at sites other than SSR? When I received mine they said the only WDW site they could be used at is SSR? Just a little confused on how developer points work?

Thank you for your replies. I was able to use my developer points at AKV. The only condition that I was told about was that I had to use them by Feb. 28, 2009.

Incentives change all the time, when we bought last year we got double developer points :goodvibes Some of the recent incentives have been for Developer Points that are only good at SSR.
Developer points work almost the same as regular points, but they have to be hand processed when making reservations (which takes longer). If you call to check/change a reservation it helps to tell MS that the ressie was made with developer points so they can find it in their system easier.

DVC seems to have bad problems with using Developer points. I bought AKV late last summer and had SEVERE problems getting my confirmations in a timely fashion when using those points. It was taking MONTHS, and about 8-9 phone calls.

They are in a separate computer system or something. I finally had to call and raise a serious ruckus and deal with managers several steps up to get the thing resolved. As I recall, they had to type up my confirmation manually.

You will probably have to keep after them.

I'm confused on this also, we were given 160 SSR developer points for buying AKL Kadini this week. My guide said we can use them to book in Myrtle Beach, is this correct do you think? How do you make this type of reservation, I want to go in June, how soon can I call to book?

It doesn't sound right, especially since DVC doesn't have a resort in Myrtle Beach. Maybe your guide said/meant to say HHI? Even so, if they are specifically SSR developer points, then you probably can't use them anywhere other than SSR. I would check your paperwork, it should say and if need be call your guide and MS. In the past, developer points have only been good to make reservations at the 7month mark, that is something you should also find in your paperwork or when you speak to your guide or MS.

Actually that may be right. My guide said I could use them at SSR or at a location in the World Passport collection or the Disney Cruise. So if there is something at Myrtle Beach within those collections I assume you could as well. I am not sure if you can book before the 7 month window for those or not. I would call MS and ask when you can book if you were to use them for something other than SSR.

I am also a first time DVC member, purchased AKV in June. I made a reservation for SSR for a two bedroom on July 9th by phone and was given immediate confirmation of availability...and then received E-mail confirmation on July 13th...very quick response and the CM on the phone was very gracious and very helpful recommending a certain location for my party of 4 at SSR
Great first experience using Guest Services.

I'm confused too!
:headache:

My contract states that my developer points are good ONLY at SSR, Disneyland Resorts and bookings through Interval International. How are people able to book into AKV with them??
:sad2:

You had to wait for the 7 month window to book right? We own at AKL and have those 160 SSR points too but I can't book for my June vacation at SSR until 7 months out, right?

My contract states that I must be in the 7 month window to use my developer points.

As was mentioned - there have been different kinds of developer point deals. We received our's at the DL event in May and those did not have the SSR restriction. In fact, about the only thing we couldn't use it for was for a Disney Cruise. Some Dev. Pts. before that could be used for a cruise. And other's are for SSR or II. It just depends on what the deal was when you bought.

I'm guessing that Myrtle Beach must be something thru II?

And for us, our reservation with DP's showed up on the member website almost immediately. I think that's the strangest of all - why some show and other's don't. :confused3

My Contract Section 3 C .says my Developers Points can be combined with my
Ownership interest.(AKV,OKW,etc.),they can not be banked or borrowed or transferred. All reservations with Developers points must be booked no more than 7 months prior to check-out date, must be confirmed...and completed within 12 months of the contract date...any left will be forfeited.

Purchaced my contract last month, developer points only good a SSR, Disneyland or II. I wonder if I could have negotiated the restrictions? Would have been nice to combine with my AKV points.

Do you have a Sheet in your Contract called VACATION OPTION AGREEMENT
Mine in section 2 reads with that same info as you stated but section 3 C and D
refers to adding the developers points to your "Home Contract"

Interesting, I'll have to take a second look at my contract and see if that's in there.

I just found that in my contract but the way I read it is that you can add your AKL points to the SSR points to be used at SSR but not the SSR points at AKL.
