My little Sarah has just tested positive for Lyme.

She has been complaining about her knees hurting a lot....so I finally got her tested. She has a positive Elisa (first screener) and three bands on her Western Blot (second screener).

I cannot go through this with another child. I am just completely devastated. Brad just went to pick up the medicine. Sarah doesn't have any neurological problems so maybe we are catching it early enough and all she will need is oral medication and not IV like Rachel. And maybe she will actually get better. But I can't even tell you what I feel like right now.

David is, thankfully, negative, as am I. I have never seen Sarah with a tick on her, but all those years of working and babysitters....who knows if one pulled a tick off her and didn't mention it to me.

Hug your kids everyone.

That is terrible news and my heart goes out to you. There's nothing worse than seeing your kids sick. But there's no reason to think that Sarah's case won't run the more traditional Lyme course and respond just fine to the oral meds.

Keep your chin up. These things will pass.

Sharon, I am sorry to hear about Sarah's news. However, she is very lucky to have loving, supportive family members surrounding her. You know we will keep you all in our thoughts & prayers.

Just trying to make you smile!

Thanks guys. Okay, I have calmed down some. We have the medicine and she just had her first doses. And she is at the very beginning, complaining about things that Rachel used to complain about (back then they thought it was growing pains...and we ended up not diagnosing Rachel for two more years). I'm thankful we have caught it early (as far as symptoms go) and as mentioned, hopefully it will be easily and fully controlled.

Thanks again for the support.

I hope all goes well I'll send pixy dust, and lots of prayers, but I bet everything will be just fine, you'll see.

I don't know what all the symptoms are. Can you help so we all know what to look for in our kids? I'll add your family in my prayers.

Oh Sharon,
I am so sorry to hear your news. I will be sending you prayers and pixie dust.
Just think though, how much knowledge you have now so you can nip it in the bud.

My dearest Sharon
My heart is aching. I know the last few years have been so draining on all of you. And to learn little Sarah is positive must have felt like that last straw.
I agree with the others, the knowledge you have now will help you with Sarah. And it sounds like she was diagnosed early, and hopefully will respond well to the first line meds.
As always my prayers and thoughts are with you all, with an extra special prayer for Sarah.

Hugs and Hugs

Very sorrry to hear this. Sandy and I will keep you and Sarah in our thoughts and prayers. My dad has Lyme as well and I know how hard it can be.

Hey Sharon,

When I read the title I never thought that you would have this news. I hope you it was caught early enough. Sarah will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Pixie Dust, hugs & prayers are coming your way!

Hope all is well soon...

Sharon Wow I read the article on the other family and never relized just how bad Lyme could be. I am truly sorry for your girls and your family, it must be very hard to have faith but try to remember that our higher being never gives us more than we can handle , athough I beg to differ with the strenth he thinks we have at times . Your girls need your strenth to get through these hard times and hopfully brighter times await in the near furture in the mean time lots of prayer and pixie dust for you and yours.Take care of your girls and your self and now I need to go hug my three kids

Sharon,
I know that saying I am sorry is just not going to be what you need, but if there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to call me.
I remember meeting that family when Richie was first diagnosed with Lyme. He lived just down the road from them when he was bitten.
You would think that with the high incidence in Wilton they would do something more. I used to love watching the deer in his backyard until he got sick. Now even though they are graceful they are no longer the innocent animals they appear to be. I know what they can do to a person and Richie will live and suffer with his diease forever.
I hope Rachael and Sarah make a full recovery, little children don't need to suffer the way that Rachael has had to already.

Words can't express the sorrow I feel for Sarah. I pray that everything works out well and that it was caught early enough.

Sharon, Caroline and I send along our prayers for Sarah and Rachel and your entire family. You have been so supportive during my tough medical times lately, and when we read your posting tonight our hearts went out to you. You are so in tune with Lyme's now and we bet you have caught Sarah's at an early stage so that she will respond to medications. Please keep in touch and let us know if you are up for some moral support - being the caregiver is such an important job, and one which requires some big shoulders. You can count on us!! Roger

Sharon we send along our thoughts and prayers that the oral medication will work and Sarah will get better quickly. We also continue to send our thoughts and prayers for Rachel. It is hard for anyone to go through those types of procedures, but on a child it can be especially difficult. Sending Pixie Dust for the whole family!

Sharon, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I'm wishing you good thoughts that since she was diagnosed early, she'll and you'll have an easier time with it...but I know this is very very tough..tons of PIXIE DUST also

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. No family should have to go through this with a child...never mind 2 children. :(

Sending pixiedust your way.

Sharon I could not believe this was happening to your family again!!! What are the odds?!? I hope Sarah's case has been caught early enough that she will respond well to the meds. Please feel free to call on me if there is something I can do.
