"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

We have Chef Mickey's booked this trip for a dinner too. I hope the characters are better in July :( It will just be myself (32) and my cousin (18), so no kiddos with us either. This will be her first and only character dinner, so I hope they are good. But its on our last night, so we should get some good character lovin at the parks throughout the week

I hope you two have a good character interaction! I think it just depends on the time of day. We were there during the busy lunch/breakfast hour so they had tons of people to see.

:sad1:

Yes, I'm gonna need to see that. :)
Done! I am also slowly getting caught up on all of my TRs :thumbsup2

Hi All! Hope you had a great weekend and your week is off to a good start! Things are good here with us. The other day we hit the 5 month mark til our next vacation  We're so looking forward to that split stay between the Boardwalk and the Grand Floridian :thumbsup2 Since it will be a bit shorter than our usual family vacations we decided to splurge on the resorts. Can't wait!

Anyway, back to February....when Caitlin left off we had finished up at the race checkin at ESPN and we headed back to the resort.

By this time in the day it was mid-afternoon and 85! It was the perfect time for a pool break. When we got back to the hotel we decided to pick up some beverages at the main pool and take them to the quiet pool near our room.

At Muddy Rivers I got my usual Coke and Caitlin ordered

a Sangria

Yes the princess was certainly enjoying being 21 at Disney. We took our drinks to our room, got changed and hit the quiet pool. Again we noticed the lack of children at this resort and we had the pool practically to ourselves. After about half an hour we decided to head back and get ready for dinner. As we walked back we saw that workers were painting our building and there must have been a dozen men on ladders painting. I have to say they weren't too engrossed in their work to miss noticing Caitlin in her bikini and I was afraid they might fall the way they were craning their necks to check her out

We got changed for dinner and then headed to the bus to Hollywood Studios for dinner at one of our favorite places.

disneyday2580.jpg

We arrived around 5pm and since the park was closing at 7 it was practically dead there!

disneyday2583.jpg

I loved all these pink blossoms!
disneyday2586.jpg

We had about half an hour to kill until dinner so we headed over to the Animation Building in hopes of finding some new characters. Unfortunately there weren't any so we checked out the movie posters of the coming attractions.

We can't wait for this one!
disneyday2589.jpg

disneyday2588.jpg

This gives you an idea of how few people were there
disneyday2590.jpg

As we were walking through the Animation Courtyard Caitlin spotted a couple of cute boys that she had to get her picture taken with. The first guy was the rugged handy man type

(and yes thats the dress she bought earlier that day at the Poly)

The second cutie was a real charmer and very flirtatious. He even dared to kiss the princess!

After saying goodbye to the cuties we decided to head over to Star Tours and check on some fast passes to use after dinner. (well for Caitlin to use after dinner. If you know us you know I don't do those rides)

The wait was only 10 minutes but we grabbed FP just in case it suddenly got busy. By this time it was time to start heading to dinner and of course Caitlin grabbed some pics along the way.

disneyday2599.jpg

UHOH! Looks like something BIG was here!

disneyday2598.jpg

I heard this poor guy was framed!

**continued next post**

Where were we eating? Why the 50's of course! We checked in and since there was going to be a bit of a wait we sat down at the bar. Caitlin already knew what she wanted to try so she quickly ordered a "Dad's Electric Lemonade".
disneyday2604.jpg

Well the bartender had a real hard time believing she was 21 and must have spent 5 minutes staring at her and her ID trying to decide if it was real or fake :rotfl2: Finally he gave in and made her drink and look at the grin on her face.

disneyday2605.jpg

This is one of Dale's favorite Disney drinks and Caitlin enjoyed it too! As we sat at the bar I noticed a waiter standing a bit behind Caitlin and attaching straws to one another to make one great big long straw. I didn't figure out what he was doing until he had 5 or 6 together and he tried to stick the long straw in her drink. It was hilarious and Caitlin looked shocked :rotfl2:

As we were laughing about it our waiter,Devante, arrived to and told us "Don't worry about him he's an alcoholic" :rotfl: It was very un-Disneylike but very funny! As he walked away he said he'd be keeping an eye on me because he could tell I was a "sneaky snake". Personally I think he should have kept an eye on the one with the alcohol!

As luck would have it we got a table with a tv

disneyday2607.jpg

and look what came on!

disneyday2608.jpg

We ordered our "usual"
disneyday2610.jpg

We like this meal because with 4 pieces of chicken and 2 sides it's big enough to share and a good value if you're not on the dining plan. (a much better deal than our $80 brunch at Chef Mickey's!)

When we finished eating he brought Caitlin a cupcake and announced to the room she as celebrating being 21 and that her giggles were proof she was enjoying it.

disneyday2613.jpg

disneyday2615.jpg

As she was eating the cupcake I suddenly witnessed her eyes just glaze over. I asked her if she was ok and she responded with "No I'm drunk" and burst into laughter. I asked her if she wanted to leave and she said "of course not" she had to ride Star Tours. I decided to follow her lead so we paid our bill, said goodbye to Devante and headed to Star Tours.

disneyday2620.jpg

While she left for her Tour I decided to grab a nearby table and call Dale. He (like perhaps some of you) could not believe I let her out of my sight let alone to ride Star Tours. He was afraid she was going to get really sick on it. Since she had the race in the morning I really hoped that wasn't the case! After about 20 minutes I finally saw her coming back my way! And she wasn't green! In fact she said she felt sobered up :)

It turned out she had ridden twice, back to back, and got to be the Rebel Spy!! She was so excited about that!

At this point it was just about 7pm and the park was getting ready to close so we decided to head out. Of course you know she had to take some night pics as we left....

Since Caitlin was now sobered up a bit and it was still early we decided we needed to go back to the Magic Kingdom and give the new game "Sorcerors of the Kingdom" a try. But I'll save that for next time!

Wow - I can't imagine riding Star Tours back-to-back after feeling "drunk."
I was definitely waiting for the part of the story when barf bags were needed. :rotfl2:

Good thing Caitlin felt okay - especially with the race the following day.
Can't wait to hear about it!

I had no idea how she'd react to the ride after that "lemonade" so I too was afraid she might be sick. Thankfully she has a strong stomach!

Luckily there were no lasting "effects" that hampered the race for her :)

A split stay with BW and GF sounds amazing:thumbsup2

Your meal at 50's looks great. Your server sounds very fun and Caitlin certainly enjoyed herself.

Thanks! We can't wait! It'll be Caitlin's first trip to Food and Wine and MNSSHP plus we'll be celebrating Dale's birthday! Loads of fun!

While the food is always good there the service can be hit or miss. Lucky for us we got a really fun one and we had a blast :)

I've somehow missed so many updates!! Don't know how that happened, but I am here reading along (although I have lurked through a bit of the updates):rotfl:

I'm loving the fun you've had on the trip so far! When in Sept/Oct are you guys back?! And as if you're staying at the GF, I would love love love to stay there, but want to save it for something special haha.

That's too bad that the characters at Chef Mickey's wasnt the greatest, and I definitely get the feeling, like, yeah, I'm above the age of 6, doesn't mean I don't love the characters and getting attention from them!

I'm glad you're all caught up!

We're going Sept. 26- Oct 1st. We had to squeeze it in around Caitlin's classes.

Chef Mickey's is really expensive if you aren't on the dining plan and we just didn't feel it was worth the money.

That is one blue drink. I was in a beach a couple of summers when I was much younger and we used to make drinks like that we called "tidy bowls". Great visual - I know!

If I was a bartender I might have a hard time believing Caitlin as 21 - probably because she is so petite. Love the new dress.

Star Wars back to back! Love it! :thumbsup2

Yes the lemonade is very blue and very strong
Hmmm don't know if I could drink something called a Tidy Bowl :rotfl:

People always think she is younger than she is I just thought it was funny that he'd think she would use a fake id at Disney World with her mom :confused3

The other day we hit the 5 month mark til our next vacation

Woo Hoo! That means a little over 5 months until the next TR!

We're so looking forward to that split stay between the Boardwalk and the Grand Floridian

That really does sound amazing. Can't wait to hear how you like GF especially.

Hey look! It's a sangria on the rocks!

Yes the princess was certainly enjoying being 21 at Disney.

Oh really? Hadn't noticed. :rotfl:

Again we noticed the lack of children at this resort and we had the pool practically to ourselves.

Does it get any better than that?
1. At Disney
2. At the pool. At Disney.
3. Quiet, relaxing. At the pool. At Disney.
4. With a drink. Quiet, relaxing. At the pool. At Disney.

aaaahhhhh...

...there must have been a dozen men on ladders painting. I have to say they weren't too engrossed in their work to miss noticing Caitlin in her bikini and I was afraid they might fall the way they were craning their necks to check her out

Well, can you blame them? Your daughter is beautiful, as I'm sure you'd agree. :)

We got changed for dinner and then headed to the bus to Hollywood Studios for dinner at one of our favorite places.

I saw the Brown Derby pic and was a little perplexed, until you said where you were going!

The second cutie was a real charmer and very flirtatious. He even dared to kiss the princess!

The rogue!

By this time it was time to start heading to dinner and of course Caitlin grabbed some pics along the way.

She did? I am so surprised! No really!

Well... maybe not.

Where were we eating? Why the 50's of course!

I would say that it's probably my number 1 restaurant to try next trip. Been to Sci Fi twice and am looking forward to this one.

Caitlin already knew what she wanted to try so she quickly ordered a "Dad's Electric Lemonade".

I believe you mentioned that she was enjoying being 21 at Disney.

Well the bartender had a real hard time believing she was 21 and must have spent 5 minutes staring at her and her ID trying to decide if it was real or fake :rotfl2:

Well considering she always gets the kids menu, can you blame him?

Finally he gave in and made her drink and look at the grin on her face.

Yes, she does seem a bit pleased, doesn't she?

This is one of Dale's favorite Disney drinks and Caitlin enjoyed it too! :lmao:

When we finished eating he brought Caitlin a cupcake and announced to the room she as celebrating being 21 and that her giggles were proof she was enjoying it.

That's great! I'm sure she was tickled pink.

I actually wrote pickled pink first then corrected it. Now I'm wondering if maybe I should've left it.

While she left for her Tour I decided to grab a nearby table and call Dale. He (like perhaps some of you) could not believe I let her out of my sight let alone to ride Star Tours. He was afraid she was going to get really sick on it.

That's one of those life lessons that you just have to let them learn on their own.

Since she had the race in the morning I really hoped that wasn't the case!

Doesn't everybody want to run a marathon with a hangover? :confused3

After about 20 minutes I finally saw her coming back my way! And she wasn't green! In fact she said she felt sobered up :)

So much for that life lesson!

Or it means we only have 5 months to finish this one :)

That really does sound amazing. Can't wait to hear how you like GF especially.

Thanks. We're planning to have more "resort time" so we can fully enjoy them.

Hey look! It's a sangria on the rocks!

Good one :thumbsup2

Suprisingly enough it's true!

Does it get any better than that?

Perfect, right?

Aww thank you and you won't get an arguement from me on that one :)

I saw the Brown Derby pic and was a little perplexed, until you said where you were going!

Actually we do visit Brown Derby later on in the trip.

The rogue!

You can't trust those pirates!

She did? I am so surprised! No really!

Well... maybe not.

I would say that it's probably my number 1 restaurant to try next trip. Been to Sci Fi twice and am looking forward to this one.

We always have so much fun there that it really has become one of our "must do" things each trip even if we just sit at the bar and have a snack.

I believe you mentioned that she was enjoying being 21 at Disney.

Did I? :rotfl:

Well considering she always gets the kids menu, can you blame him?

Good point!

Yes, she does seem a bit pleased, doesn't she?

She kind of looks like she pulled one over on him and that id really was fake

:lmao:

Thanks :goodvibes

I hope you two rock the 5k! My only advice is to eat a lot of protein! I have become addicted to fish fajitas and the better your diet is the easier it is to run :thumbsup2 Protein bars, chicken, fish and egg whites are the staple of my diet and not only will your body feel better but your run time should improve as well!

Thank you!

Thanks for the advice, Caitlin! I appreciate it. I eat a lot of chicken and have been incorporating fish into my diet as well. Glad that they both help with my running. :) The only thing that has been bugging me with running are my ankles and I get side cramps. I make sure to hydrate but I still get side cramps. It's frustrating because it slows me down!

I can see you are enjoying being 21! Always fun especially trying the new drinks. I'm not a big sour/tart fan...was the lemonade like that?

No problem! I used to have the same issue so I started working out my abs and sides more and it went away :thumbsup2 Running is a full body work out so if anything hurts just compensate with making it stronger. For ankles I would recommend heel lifts.

I am! I loved trying all the new drinks! The lemonade was really good and I am not a fan of regular lemonade. It wasn't too tart or sour it was just right!
