Hello... I am wondering about which hotel to stay at the night before we fly out of DTW to go to WDW? Anyone have a sugestion?? We are only going to be there for a little bit so we do not want something expensive. :flower:

If you are going during winter months and leaving on a Saturday or Sunday, consider the Westin. It's not cheap, but they have a weekend park-n-fly special. Around $160 plus tax for the night, which includes 8 days of valet parking. The best part: you can go from your bed to your plane without having to go outside! When you get back, they will bring your car right to you, again without you leaving the terminal. It's maybe an extra $60-$80 over what you'd pay for an off-airport park-n-fly, but your car stays in covered parking (no snow!) and it's a nice way to pamper yourself and get your vacation off on the right foot.

They do not seem to have '06 park-n-fly rates yet, but I would expect them soon.

Thanks for the quick reply. We are going on a Wed. and it is in February! I figure parking at the airport is either going to be 45 -70$ anyway so that extra 70$ is a wash!! I probably should have asked is there any hotel we shouldn't stay at!!! Have a great day!! :flower:

Unfortunately, if you leave on a Wednesday, you're going to pay an arm and a leg at the Westin on a Tuesday--their good rates are typically only Friday and Saturday nights. I'd look elsewhere.

Marriott has three hotel right at the exit (Courtyard, Fairfield and the other one). If you go to hotel.com or marriott.com you can usually get good rates. The hotels and airport is actually in Romulus

I have stayed at the Ramada, Marriott and the Westin. I didn't care for the Ramada, the Marriott was just as nice as the Westin(rooms). I did the park and fly with both the ramada and marriott, 2 different parking lots, both very secure. I was dropped off at the Westin so I didn't do the park and fly. DSis did valet at the Westin when she picked us up and we liked having a warm car to get into. If I were to park and fly again I wouldn't want to park outside. DH and myself used Marriott park and fly in December 2000 and while we were gone, Michigan had a terrible snow storm. We had a chevy 4wd pick-up and had a hard time finding it under the snow. It was dark outside and not a lot of lighting in the area we parked. The lot had not been throughly plowed(snow just kept falling faster than the plowed moved) and our door locks were frozen :cold: . There we stood knee high in snow and everything we needed to clean the truck and the area around us was frozen in the truck. If I ever use a outdoor lot during the winter again I will make sure I have a early flight so I can see and be seen :rotfl2: . Westin would be well worth to me in the winter months. Susan

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza and really enjoyed it (on my honeymoon). Since we have stayed at the Doubletree and enjoyed it too.

There is a LaQuinta in front of QwikPark and those are usually nice. Notice a
lot of airline workers being shuttled there. We usually park there and take the shuttle.

Thank you everyone!! Now at least I have a jumping off place!! Have a great day! :flower:

We booked our stay at the baymont hotel. We got a great price and will be using the airport shuttle service they offer. Our friends will be dropping us off and picking us up! I booked directly through the chains website. I was able to find the best price through their own website. Happy Hunting!
