Determining distance on elliptical?

OK, so I joined the WISH Challenge today, followed by joining the Walking to Disney World challenge. I'm motivated, but stuck by one thing: How do I figure out distance on an elliptical?! The thing counts revolutions, but how far does a revolution count for? I was on the thing for 20 minutes and I got just over 1000 revolutions! I refuse to believe that a revolution=a step and I'd need 2000 to get to a mile. I may not be Bruce Jenner, but I know I got further than half a mile in 20 minutes!

Any ideas? :confused3

Best I can figure is a revolution = 2 steps, so the math says 1000 revolutions = 1 mile.

I'm not getting as far as I'd like, 1000 revolutions at a time, but a full mile credit is better than half a mile of credit!

As of today, I'm 3.2 miles toward SSR. Looks like I made it all the way to Kroger. :rotfl: Today, the grocery store, tomorrow, the highway! (At this rate, it's going to take me three weeks to make it to the interstate!)

And I'm buying a pedometer to count all my daily walking, too. Maybe it will only take me TWO years to walk to WDW that way!

Good luck!

The elliptical in our gym has a distance screen. It tells you how far you have gone in miles. I can basically at my speed 75 (level 5) go 1 mile in TEN minutes. It you are anything like me, in 20 minutes you probably did 2 miles. Hence, I stay on the elliptical at the very least through 30 minutes PLUS and then I got 3 miles in. BUT wearing a pedometer on an elliptical does not calibrate the same as steps. You will get off the elliptical, read the screen on the elliptical as 3 miles and the pedometer will only give you like a range of 3000 steps or a few more or a few less...as a mile = 2000 steps. Same with the bikes in the gym, you cannot wear a pedometer on that as well and get a proper reading. Just on the treadmill. When I use those machines E & B, I just make sure I stay on and follow the TIME screen. Staying on either one for 30 min +! Now on the treadmill, I stay on that until I have done 10,000 steps = 5 miles and that takes me about 70 minutes. GOOD LUCK, hope this helped.

I wear a pedometer at my workout every single day and when I get home, I write it down in a small little journal I have on my desk. The date, the time and what my steps are..I actually LEAVE the number on the counter until the next workout(so I know what the steps were at my last workout) and try to beat that number by ONE step each day(of course bringing that back to zero to start the new workout). It is fun and keeps the workout a little challenging.
GOOD LUCK.
