Details you really love about the Haunted Mansion

I love the pictures in the elevator, the scenes they expose when they stretch. I love the party/ballroom room with the ghosts dancing, blowing out candles, etc. I love the hidden Mickey in that room and I love the spider web on the glass as you go through. I also like the guy holding the lantern and shivering with his bony dog in the graveyard.

HM is my all-time favorite attraction. DL's especially. Here's what I love about it:

1. The exterior and the grounds. I just LOVE the look of it. I have wanted to live in a house like that for as long as I can remember. The sweeping, wrap-around porches, and the terrific iron-work railings. I love the big, beautiful columns, and the doors and windows.
2. I love the chandelier in the entry foyer, and the gargoyle candelabras. I DON'T like the "newer" spiderweb floor though - I much prefered the old carpet.
3. The stretching gallery is the BEST. I love all of the portraits, but yes, Doombugger - the parasol lady over the croc is my fav too. I love the wall paper in this room, too. It's simple but classic... and the woodwork just speaks to the style of house they chose to create. I think it's great.
4. The portrait corridor is awesome. I always love the changing effects on the portraits when the lightening flashes. My fav portrait is gone now, though...the April/December lady - I much preferred her to the Master Gracey portrait from WDW. (I have a framed 4 litho version in my house though, so I can always see her lovely transformation!)
5. Realizing that the train is going right over you when you are at the end of the portrait corridor, when looking at those awesome "follow me" busts. It's such a simple trick, how they work, but I LOVE it. I also love that there is an actual bust of the school marm from the P.C. on the mantle in the ballroom!
6. The bat stanchions are incredible. I love the detail.
7. At the top of the stairs, when the ghost host says, "wall to wall creeps, and hot and cold running chills!!!" ... gets me every time. LOVE IT.
8. I love the hands trying to remove the lid from the coffin.
9. The 20K leagues organ!!!
10. The entire ballroom.
11. The floating Leota in the seance room is really cool.
12. I LOVE that when the imagineers were making a duplicate set-up for WDW, when you leave the attic and start the descent - they failed to correct the "exterior" that you look at to match the Dutch style of the WDW house - but rather left it as the classic NOS house!!!!!
13. I love the hand candelabras at the end, the ghosts in the mirror, and Little Leota as you go up the ramp.

Did I mention it's my FAVORITE attraction?!?!?

This is one of my favourite rides! There are so many things that I love about it! I love, love, LOVE all of the cobwebs & dust that is covering everything. I enjoy waiting to see what ghost(s) hitchhikers will end up with you in your Doom Buggy. I have never grown tired of the figure hanging above in the stretching room either. SUCH a great ride with so many neat little details. I can not wait to go on it again this year & look for some of the things that have been mantioned in this thread! Cool stuff! :thumbsup2

The 20K leagues organ!!!

That is very neat. I'm not sure if too many realize this. The organ in the ballroom is the actual movie set prop from the classic film. Before HM was completed it was on display in Tomorrowland and it was a big attraction in it's day.

I love when the CMs that are working the ride are on top of their games, it makes the ride even better!

My favorite details about the Haunted Mansion are the stretching room, the statues that eyes follow you while you walk, the hitch hiking ghosts, the bride at the end that says huury baaack, and all of the paintings.

:hmghost:

I have to admit that adults screaming for the effect is one of my pet peeves. On a few occasions, it caused others to panic including my own kids. My kids calmed down and still rode the ride after I explained that the adults were just screaming for effect and were being inconsiderate of other.

I also can't stand HMH and would never ride it again.

I'd rather have random people scream than no scream. I was on once when there was no scream whatsoever, not even from the CM, just the sound of bones hitting the floor. It was disappointing and anti-climatic.

I loved it when they changed the ride to The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was great. On one occasion I was wheelchair bound as I had recently fractured my hip (yes I know I'm only 22) and got to stay longer and go the entire way around the ride instead of getting off where most people do.

One of my favorite rides without a doubt.
