We're going to DL in Sept (12-17). I'm assuming (based on our trip last year), that it'll be weekend showings for Fantasmic. Last time we got pretty good seats in the first roped off section by the water, but were there a while! Plus it killed my back to sit on the ground like that, and killed my DH's knees (we're only 25 & 30 but you'd think we were seniors with our health issues...). Last time we were in front of the bridge area to Pirates, right by the water.

We're looking at the Balcony or Riverside seating for this trip. I know with the Riverside they offer kids prices but the balcony it's adult prices for everyone (from what I can find). Right? At what age do they need a ticket? If they're a lap child/baby do they need a ticket? My 5 & 3 year old boys would need a ticket, but my 1 year old daughter (she'll be 16 months in Sept), will sit on my lap and not eat the dessert (well maybe a taste here and there, but not really eating) - if she's even awake at that time of night. Does she need a ticket or do I just need 4 tickets? (DH, me, kids: 5,3 & 1)

The riverfront seating is in front of the Haunted Mansion in chairs in a roped off area with a box of dessert in your lap - correct? Is this a big area, good view, worth the money? Especially with little ones who want a good view?

Where is the Balcony seating located? I am having trouble placing it. Would this be a good option with little ones, or is it more fancy for adults only?

Typically our kids go to bed at 7pm, so this will be quite the treat for them and I want it to be special.

With children I would go with riverside. Space on the balcony is very limited. There isnt really anywhere you can take the kids if they are restless. If you do riverside you would be able to at least move to the back of the roped off area if the kids were restless. Also, the seats on the balcony are pretty close together. It would probably not give you a lot of elbow room to hold your little one. And no, she wouldnt need a ticket. The riverside is a dessert buffet, they did away with the boxes. The desserts are more finger desserts- cookies, brownies, dipped strawberries, vs the desserts that require forks on the balcony.

The balcony is off the gallery above pirates.

We did riverside with my daughter last year, she was 1 and it worked out great! We were able to sit on the end of the row, and she sat in her stroller and saw very well. It was sooooo much better than sitting on the concrete for hours waiting! We love the show so the money was worth it to us. The food was good, and at that time of night it was nice to have sweets, coffee, hot chocolate to keep us going.

I just made reservations for the balcony seating on July 2nd, and the lady said that I didn't need a ticket for a 2 year old. Hopefully, she won't want to leave during the show, I'll be bummed. I'm looking forward to seeing Fantasmic from the balcony, and since we're reserved for the 9:00 showing we should be able to see the fireworks afterward!

Love the balcony, but we may try riverside this time around. We will see. 6 of us gets spendy.

How much is balcony seating and what does it include? Do you think the prices are any different in December (that's when we are going:banana: ) vs now?

umm dose any one know if when in balconey they have ppl that walk around selling the glow things or toys?

Jade,
There is no room for anyone to walk around doing ANYTHING on the balcony! As others have said, there is barely enough room for the chairs and dessert table. Even the two CM's there stand back - one in a corner, the other off the balcony inside. I think the price is $53. It may be a little more. It includes fancy desserts, cheese and fruit sticks and hot or cold beverages. You get $10 of food and $40 of "reserved seating and atmosphere". That said, we loved the experience, it was great. But I think next time we will try Riverside for a change. Iv'e been told it is different being so close rather than up above. Have fun whatever you decide:)

Is the riverside seating gradual at all? I think it's 3 or 4 rows of chairs. Are they all at the same level? If you get the back row can you see anything? I'd hate to pay $50 a seat to see the back of someone's head that i could see for free standing up. :)

are the river side still get the desert buffet, and where is it at?? is it the wood chairs on the walkway?
