We loved it. We did it for the first time last month and loved it so much we are taking our friends back in two weeks. I think we saw Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy and I think but am not sure Pluto (I would have to go look at the pictures again). We saw a couple of the characters more than once. They do this song and everyone gets to twirl there napkins. My dd3 thought that was so much fun. The food was good but not as good as either 1900 Park Fare or Crystal Palace.
We love Chef Mickey's and it is always a "must do" when we go to WDW. However, I would say the food at 1900 Park Fare is better but if you want Mickey/Minnie/Goofy/Donald/Chip & Dale you can't beat the atmosphere.
My kids especially love when we all swing our napkins over our heads!
Go for breakfast. We were very disappointed in the food for dinner last month when we were there. Maybe we hit a bad night, but breakfast would be better. Characters were great!
We were there for dinner on 9/30. Some people complain about the noise, but we were kind of in the back and I had no problem with the noise at all. We were happy with the character interaction. Minnie and Goofy were especially good w/ our kids that night. Donald stayed by the buffets and the rest circled around. We actually had a good pacing that night - spread out a bit so you could eat, go to the buffet, etc b/w visits. The waitress was attentive and clearly explained the path the characters would take.
The prime rib was very good as were the potatoes. Everything else was pretty much just average buffet fare. There was ONE gross item. There was an apple salad on the salad bar part. I thought it was going to be like an apple/walnut salad type thing. WRONG. It was egg salad with apples. YUCK!!! I'd forgetten about that. The dessert bar was very good too. The sugar cookies in WDW are excellent!
we were ther 9/28 for te first time and our 4DS and 2DD loved it, if you have a table on the wall seat the kids on the outside, I would leave my chair(I sat between the kids) ans everytime the chacacters came by they sat at the table. Made for great pictures and video.
Humm. Details...
Chef Mickey's was one of our first character meals on our very first trip. We went for breakfast. They checked us in and then led us to a 'photo spot' and took our picture. (This actually surprised us... we were real newbies!)
There was a fairly large waiting area and lots of people waiting, but overall it didn't seem to take too long. Goofy came to visit us while we waited. He spent quite a while in the waiting area. Then we were led to our table, and sent to the buffet. Actually 2 HUGE buffets! Lot's of selections for adults and others for kids. Plus a separate area with doughnuts and other sweet treats. I was kind of bummed that this huge assortment of treats was between our table and the real food... ie: the first thing the hungry boy saw! Kind of hard to get them to eat real food when all the doughnuts they want come into view first. All the food was great.
At some point they start loud music and the characters show the kids how to swing thier napkins around over thier heads. It's cute and the kids love it! Lot's of fun.
The ONLY down side is also an upside... it's a buffet. Which means everyone that everyone gets to eat what they want but also that everyone is up and down getting food.
For this reason we have always prefered the character breakfast at OHanna's... the food is put on the table... they bring us more of what ever we want... and the characters lead the kids in a parade. BUT it sounds like OHanna may be completely different now... with Lelo and Stich... and the word is the food has gone downhill.
DS LOVES Stich so we'll go back but if the food isn't what it used to be maybe Chef Mickey's will be our new favorite!
The second time I went do DW, we went to Chef Mickey's for dinner. All you can eat buffet, beautiful, spotless. We saw Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip & Dale. Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Chip & Dale came around to our table twice each. Mickey only posed for a picture once, but as he walked by he would wave and dance. By the means of Character Meals, this one is my favorite.
Can anyone tell me if they still have the peel and eat shrimp on the dinner buffet at Chef Mickey's? The last time we were there was in 2002 and they had it, but I'm not seeing it on the menu. The shrimp was one of the reasons we would always go there. If not, where do you suggest eating?
