Someone else already said it, but I believe the parrot was removed from the entrance of POTC when it got its refurb in 2006 . . . however, the parrot is not eliminated alltogether. It was moved from the entrance of POTC to the inside of the ride, where it currently is perched next to the hairy-legged pirate.

That's a very similar--if not completely identical--parrot. But the one that was at the entrance is actually now at the World of Disney store at DTD. You can see a video of him at http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/2522640/
