I agree, the Unofficial Guide is very helpful. Either buy one or check it out from the library. It will explain which attractions to hit at which times, and also clues you in on things that you might not realize about lines (like the speed at which the lines move at different attractions....this is helpful because you might bypass a long line, but that attraction may load a ton of people at once, and just after you skipped it, the doors may open and let everyone in, and other things don't look like the lines are too long, but the attraction loads only a few people at a time and you will wait a long time).
The UG also has info on shows, but as soon as you get to WDW, try to get your hands on the park maps and the guides that are updated every week or two for each park you plan to visit....this will have the most up to date show times (and park hours).
