I chose BLT/Contemporary simply because it's my least favorite monorail resort and would be my last choice to own out of all the resorts listed.

Why did you only include select resorts?
I wanted to make the choice as hard as possible and although WL and Riv have huge fan bases I thought the Sophies choice of monorail or Crescent Lake resorts would make it a tougher decision. I'm also kind of surprised/not surprised at the number 3 in the poll Grand Floridian.

Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary...and it's not even close. Didn't even have to waste a second thinking about it. The Contemporary is hands down the ugliest resort I've ever seen anywhere, and I've traveled quite a bit around the world. While cool for the monorail running through it and it being close to the MK, that is about as cool as it gets. It's the peak of 1970s era ugly architectural malpractice.

Blow it up. Knock it down. Just get rid of it and start over with a fresh theme.

I went with BLT and Contemporary but I too would prefer to just demolish BLT. I have stayed there once in 2009 (twice if you count we moved rooms and had a AKV stay in the middle of the trip). We had a 1bdrm std view that wasn't bad and you could see the fireworks but even brand new it felt dated and the colors did not work for me. It was a flashback to the ridiculous colors in the kitchen I had as a kid in the 70's. While I am sure the golden yellow rod fridge from then is still running it was not pretty. Then on our second round we stayed in a studio and it felt so small. Not what I would have wanted for a deluxe level resort. I will say that I believe a lot of BLT issues stemmed from who was in charge when it was built.
I am hoping that the refurb will address the issues you describe. An upgrade in the quality of fixture and fittings is a basic requirement. The resort felt cheap.

So am I. Nothing will fix the small size of the inside studios but they can do much better on the interior.

I’m sure the interior of BLT will get better with a refurb, but there’s nothing that can be done to the exterior of the Soviet era concrete government building….oops I meant the contemporary hotel.

I'd like to request removable shower wands and a lighter-colored shelf unit that holds the TV. The current one is black and it's so dark in that corner it's hard to even see what's on the shelf! So also, better lighting and more outlets too!

I actually like the storage space in the kitchen in BLT studios, but it contributes to the small room feeling even smaller in the main area.

I have a small BLT contract and enjoy the location and compact footprint, but I largely use them at the 7-month mark.

Just stayed in BLT 2 bedroom and I thought it was great. The bay lake view is better the. The castle view.
