I have just received a "save the weekend" invite for a surprise 50th b/d party. The party is in Las Vegas and all expenses are paid. This is a first for me. Is this something new?

Vegas is a horrible, horrible place and not right for someone of your high moral fortitude. You stay here and I will go in your stead....it's a sacrifice I am willing to make for you

My parents were invited to a two week celebration in Scotland. I think they bought their own airfare. But then for two weeks all expenses were covered. Host had a touring bus arranged, golfing at St. Andrews, etc, etc, etc.
To surprise the birthday boy, male guests decided to rent kilts for dinner the night of the actual birthday.

Neither have I that is why I was asking. I am so excited. The husband called me and gave the particulars. He invited 6 of us "girls" and he will deliver the birthday girl and leave. She is going to be so surprised. He has pretty muh everything planned from thurs-sunday.
Now what to get the birthday girl? She has been my friend for 25 years, so it must be perfect.
I was thinking a helicopter ride over Vgas, but that kind of invades the dhs gift. So maybe a ride over NYC and dinner and a show? Any other ideas?
