About a month after my disney wedding we will be hosting a luau reception in my backyard with about 125-150 people. Crazy, I know! Anyway, we are going to have a dessert table and I am looking for some ideas of things to put on it. I am hoping to be able to make everything with the help of a few friends. I will not be having a wedding cake but plan on having mini cupcakes for sure. If you were planning a dessert table, what would you include on it (including flavors for cupcakes). I need to limit the amount of cold items because it will be a July luau, but I plan on having some things on ice and a mini fridge nearby to keep cold items in. Thanks!

Well, for a luau theme, it seems like your flavors should all be tropical—like you could have "Dole Whip" pineapple cupcakes topped with a swirl of yellow frosting. You could also make homemade chocolate-dipped Mickey Crispies using a Mickey-shaped cookie cutter. A lot of my ideas are for ice cream (like home made Mickey ice cream bars!), but I know that's not feasible for July....

I guess I'd say to just think of what your favorite treats are in the parks and resorts (Ohana's bread pudding maybe?) and try to re-create them. :goodvibes

what about some grilled desserts? My favorite is grilled pineapple with a rum sauce. Or bananas wrapped in aluminum foil with brown sugar, rum, coconut and chocolate chips grilled. both can be served over ice cream scoops. okay, theme developing!

What great ideas and thanks for the links. All of those ideas sound so yummy!
