Desserts on DDP

We have booked for next summer with free Disney Dining Plan and I am looking into where we want to book for our meals. The question I have is do you have to have a main course and a dessert? Can you have main course and a starter instead? We are not big dessert eaters and would much rather have something savoury.

No, you cant substitute an app for dessert. You can have a specialty coffee or fruit at most places

Anything that is not covered by the dining plan, such as starters, additional sides, alcoholic beverages, specialty non-alc beverages etc can be ordered and paid for out of pocket.

Some table service restaurants may allow a cheese plate to be served as dessert. Also some specialty coffees and teas. You'll have to ask at each restaurant.

We've taken many desserts "to go" and eaten them for breakfast the next morning.

At many quick service restaurants you can substitute a bottle of water for the dessert.

Many people would like to substitute a starter (appetizer) for the dessert, but it isn't allowed and that is one rule that is strictly enforced.
