For Christmas Eve I wanted to serve the dessert shots (or shooters) like you get at Chili's or Applebees. For those that haven't seen them, they are individual desserts that are layered into shot glasses. They are small enough that each person gets 2 or 3. I was thinking of a key lime, strawberry cheesecake and maybe something chocolate. I'm open to suggestions....please!

At WDW in Oct. we had a shooter dessert.. Choc mousse with whipped topping and Halloween sprinkles, my girls loved it! We have also had them at Applebees, I like the cheesecake ones, you could use strawberry or even raspberry toppings. Maybe even set up a topping bar for guests to use?

we had chocolate pudding shots with rum and kahalua in them at a party last weekend.
Yum! Seriously though, how about brownie pieces with cherry pie filling and whipped cream? I love the idea of guests getting to make their own.

I would think you could put almost anything in them!! How about pound cake, brownies or chocolate cake as a base. Then add pudding, whipped cream or fruit even. You could top them with whipped cream, pudding or frosting. You could even make little cream "pies" with cookie crumbs for the base and whatever filling you like.

That sounds delicious! I want to come over and help, make them and eat them ;)

Mud Slide - yummy

Pour Kahlua into the bottom of a shot glass. Slowly add Irish Cream, pouring it over a spoon or cherry to create a layer. Slowly add Vodka, also pouring over a spoon or cherry to create the third layer. Avoid mixing the layers.

Ingredients:
• 0.333 oz. Kahlua
• 0.333 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
• 0.333 oz. Vodka

Do you drop the cherry into the glass? I am confused about where to put the cherry?

You only use the cherry (or spoon) to ease the pour into the shot glass - to keep the layered look. It does not go into the shot. It is just a cooler way to prepare them than using a spoon.

You can use sweetened condensed milk and add spices and flavors.
For instance fresh grated nutmeg, dessert liquers, canned pumkin, apple pie filling, etc.

Then whip up some plain cream cheese with some sugar and a few tablespoons of lemon juice and grated lemon zest. Do it to taste and you can eyeball the amounts.

Then take your favorite brownies, cookies, cake, candy (usually nuts and chocolates, caramels) and individually make them into crumbs or small pieces. It can be chuncky per your taste and type of flavors.

Then layer your shot glasses. You can top with melted caramel, hot fudge sauce, or more dessert liquer and whip cream. You can also make a layer of fresh fruit like banana, berries, or pineapple.

Here is one I love:

Bottom layer is pumkin whipped into condensed milk with nutmeg/cinnamon

Next layer is crushed Honey Maid Graham Crackers sometimes they have the Gingerbread flavor at Walmart which is yummy

Next layer is lemony cream cheese (you cant really taste the lemon it is light)

Next layer more pumkin whipped into condensed milk with nutmeg/cinnamon

Then melted caramel and top with whip cream.

But the combos are endless. Sometimes my family sets out the ingredients and we make them as we eat them like a dessert buffet.

Another favorite is alternating hot fudge, crushed oreos, whipped sweetened cream cheese, and bananas, and pecans with whip cream on top

Shot glasses are little so they fill up quick. :rotfl:

Thanks. Now I get it. I always wondered how the bartender made the layers. Coolness! I will try this trick for the holiday!

Merry Christmas!

No problem, but practice a few times before you have to do it in front of friends. My wife is better at it than I am, but she uses a spoon.

Merry Christmas!

i did dessert shooters a few years ago for a party.

For a chocolate mousse I took a box of pudding and mixed it with half the mix. Then add some cool whip and mix until mixed. Put some ground up oreos in the bottom and add the mousse mixture.

You could also do a cheesecake type. Look for a recipe for a nonbake cheesecake. It will include cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk. Put some crushed graham crackers on the bottom and add the cheesecake mix. Put some strawberry or cherry pie filling on the top.

You could also do a key lime pie type.

Good luck

Tiramisu ones are easy to make at home you can get lady fingers from the grocery store in the cookie or bakery section. Then use a little amaretto or brandy and pour it over the lady finger and spoon in layers cream lady fingers cream lady fingers. soak the cookies in the alcohol first mixed with sugar. We like to lace each layer with fudge sauce which is melted candy bars usually Godiva or Hersheys dark with sugar and unwhipped cream.

We top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Merry Christmas and Happy Partying! :grouphug:
