I'm trying to figure out all of our meals and how much everything costs. We have never done the dining plan before, and so I have a few questions.

1. If a TS restaurant has a dessert sampler that is $9.99 (Grand Floridian Cafe for example), does that count as a dessert for just one of us? Or, would it count as a dessert for 2?

2. If there are a number of different drink options that are non-alcoholic, can I assume they are all acceptable as my drink under the dining plan? Or, do only soft drinks, water, and coffee count? I have seen that some CS and TS locations offer smoothies, espresso type drinks (hot and cold), and other non-alcoholic specialty type drinks.

Just trying to plan ahead and plan accordingly!!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

You can order this for two people on the dining plan. You cannot order it for just one of you...it is a "for two" and they will take it as the dessert component on 2 people's dining plan.

This one depends on where you are at...if eating at a Disney-owned restaurant then in general you will be able to get smoothies, milkshakes, and even "virgin" drinks like the pina colada without the booze. This was allowed at places like The Wave, Le Cellier, Grand Floridian Cafe, Kona Cafe, Turf Club, and the like. However, the non-Disney owned restaurants are much, much pickier about what you order. Via Napoli, for example, would only allow soda fountain beverages, plain coffee and plain ice tea. No fancy coffees, no bottled Italian sodas, etc. Same at other non-Disney places like Yak & Yeti, La Hacienda & San Angel, Raglan Road, and Wolfgang Puck Cafe (soda fountain drinks, plain coffee or regular iced tea only)

Hope that info helps...guess the bottom line is, just ask if you can have alternate beverages on the dining plan if you're not sure whether it's a place that allows them or not.

also, on the "for two" question...same is true on "for two" entrees at some of the places that offer them like at La Hacienda: you can order them on the dining plan, but two people on the plan have to share and it will take both people's credit. Hubby & I had a "for 2" meat platter (with a lot of other stuff on there too) It was good.

There is a Dessert sampler at The Wave we had last October and that was for 1 person, there were 3 of us and we each got a sampler on the DDP

On the menu the dessert sampler at the Grand Floridian Cafe specifically says "Serves two" while the ones at The Wave, Tutto Italia and several other restaurants do not have that notation.

Whenever an item is listed "for two" you can expect to use 2 people's credits. We ordered the Dessert Sampler at the Grand Floridian Cafe and it took 2 credits, but there was plenty to share.

there is quite a bit of size difference between The Wave desserts (3 bite-sized items) and the "for 2" sampler at Grand Floridian:

Regarding CS locations and drinks, the general rule of thumb is that smoothies, shakes and other frozen drinks are NOT allowed as a drink option on the DDP but you can use the desert option to get these. Occasionally at a resort you may find a CM who will allow them as the drink option but that's the exception rather than the rule. I've never asked about espresso or capuccinos at any CS location other than resorts but at resorts they've been allowed as the drink option any time we've asked.

Good to know! If a CS location offered an iced cappuccino, I would definitely choose that as a dessert if I couldn't get it as my drink! Love iced and frozen coffee drinks!!!! Thanks again for the help!!!

.......and that Grand Floridian Cafe dessert sampler looks awesome! I think we would definitely give that a try if we choose to go there!
