This is gonna make me sound so dumb but what is a dessert party at disney world florida?

it's a private catered event (of cakes, cookies and mini desserts etc) to view the fireworks. Most commonly for illuminations, take place in epcot and for wishes (mk fireworks), in areas around the monorail resorts.

although in the magic kingdom they do hold a public dessert party in the tommorrowland terrace.

Yep, many escape brides have added a dessert party

if you book your DP through your wedding planner, your minimum for your escape package will go up to $7500.
if you book through disney private events, it may be cheaper (depending on what else you are doing with your escape package) but you can't wear your wedding clothes.

Why cant you wear your wedding clothes to the dessert party?

You can but you have to book it through your wedding planner.
Dessert parties can also be booked through Disney private events and if you book with them, then you are not allowed to wear wedding attire
