How far in advance can you book the Dessert Parties? We are going in September and my kids want to go to one. Do they have them during Halloween party?

The MK dessert parties go back and forth between a pattern of being available to book at 180 days in advance and sometimes not. When it’s not in a 180 day pattern, it’s hard to say just when dates will become bookable. For example, we’ve been in a period now for awhile where dates 5/27+ have not been added / aren’t bookable right now. So it’s a “wait and see” approach.

Yes, last year they did the dessert party on MNSSHP nights. Although having done one on a MNSSHP night, it’s not necessarily something I would recommend for some folks/touring styles (happy to elaborate if needed).

Hope that helps! :-)

You don't think it is worth it? We have been to MNSSHP many times but we can never get a good view of the fireworks show. I thought maybe if we do the Dessert Party we might.

Both sell out pretty quickly. Disney has not released the option to book for either past May yet. IDK what's take them so long because I'm also waiting to book mine for August :(

I'm interested to know why you would not recommend during MNSSHP. Considering for our Columbus week trip this year.

Funny, I would have made the statement “we’ve been to MNSSHP many times and can always find a good fireworks view in the Hub even arriving shortly before show time.” Just shows how different perspectives / experiences can be at the same event. :-)

I think the dessert party during MNSSHP can be fine for some groups / touring styles, it just didn’t fit our style. Here’s how I break it down in my head for us:

1) We’d rather be doing candy lines, rides, party things, etc. vs spending the time at the dessert party. Party time is already short as it is from our perspective.

2) We’ve never had that bad a time with fireworks viewing on party nights, so it wasn’t “super critical” from an experience perspective for us. Unlike HEA where I find the Hub a total zoo and the dessert party can be real strategic benefit... not sure I feel the same for MNSSHP.

3) We just weren’t in the mood for more sweets, on top of our bags of candy - so no real ‘benefit’ from the food offerings, TBH.

4) It’s an “up charge event on top of an up charge event” - so $ factors into my logic somewhere.

5) I need to go refresh my memory of the timing of things like the first parade and the dessert party, but I think maybe they overlapped a bit? (I’m not totally sure on this, can’t quite remember) (side note, if the dessert party also offered reserved parade viewing like has been for certain events in the past... well then, totally different story for me!)

On the positive side, our dessert party on a MNSSHP night was pretty darn empty. Hardly any others there getting desserts or in the garden. We shared the plaza garden with only a couple of dozen other people. It was great!

Like I said - I wouldn’t totally rule it out for some groups, I just didn’t feel it was money well spent for our needs / how we approach MNSSHP.

We've done MNSHHP without the dessert party, HEA with the dessert party and MVMCP with the dessert party. We had no issues getting an amazing spot for the fireworks right after the parade during MNSSHP. We literally walking into the hub area, sat down and were set for the fireworks. That being said, it was the first party last year and not very crowded, IMHO. We will probably always do HEA with some type of reserved viewing (party or new CL area). We won't do the MVMCP dessert party again. It just wasn't necessary. We did the party on Dec. 17 and could have found a good spot on Main St. The party was lovely, but just unnecessary for a good viewing location.
