Dessert Party "visitors"?

We apparently chose the worst time to go to Florida to get away, as a lot of our friends, family, and even my students have been asking if they can stop and see us on the big day!

My question is, how heavily guarded is the dessert party? I'm not trying to skirt any rules, but I have a few students who are DYING to just stop and have a picture taken with my in my dress (oh I love my kids), and since we're firmly at the 20 mark for the ceremony, I thought maybe they could stop by at the dessert party? My mom also has some friends that want to say hi. I don't really want to pay 33/pp for everyone who "pops in"! Or is popping in even allowed?

It feels like 80% of Halifax is heading to Florida during our break. I feel bad just saying "No, sorry, you can't stop by", but if I have to start saying it I suppose I will.
We're at UK Lower if that makes any difference.

I *think* you might be able to step right outside of the dessert party (not far from the location but maybe just where the entrance is) to say a quick hi to your friends, but I am not 100% sure.

I think you could get a away with 1 or 2 people but any more and Disney would notice.

They had ours roped off and had an attendant at the entrance checking wrist bands...not sure if that's always the way it is but they definitely would have noticed...

In the same line of thought, does anybody know if people not attending reception are allowed to attend the ceremony in WP? Like OP question, some people are asking me this question. Sorry I just wrote a long drawn out post only to hit the wrong key and POOF! gone.

I can't see how that would be a problem. Disney doesn't charge per person at the WP (not yet anyway! LOL) so you should be fine. ;)

I was at a dessert party where exactly this happened, and it was no big deal. Your pals just stay on the other side of the rope and you pop out to take a pic with them. The event guide didn't even raise an eyebrow.

I think telling them to stop by at the DP (making it clear that Disney won't let them stay) would be fine. It would just be frowned on if a ton of extra people started coming in to the dessert party and, like, raiding the buffet!

Could security be put in place though to enforce any unwelcome, wedding crashers at the ceremony? I wouldn't want random tourists wanting to see how the WP is, coming into my wedding.

Security is always in place at the wedding. Disney has plenty of people around to shoo off onlookers at the Wedding Pavilion, so you needn't worry about crashers or lookyloos.

The dessert party is different because usually the wedding planner isn't there. It's pretty impossible to keep people from looking at your DP in Epcot and DHS, but the event guide will keep them from passing the rope.

Thanks everyone!

It's not people I'm close with anyway, so I think the suggestion of just saying to stop by the rope to say hi is fine. And a few of my students really want to see me, so I'd hate to be a big meanie to them.

We're so close I could squeal!

Pixie921, :thumbsup2 I hope that is the case, and thanks for the response as I am never sure if I am posting questions in the right place. I doubt there will be anybody doing this but its a question that has been put to me and has been on my mind. Also Lurkyloo I have started reading your reports and I am so impressed by them. You are truly amazing and if you ever decide to go to Fl when my daughter gets married let me know. She is not on the Dis (too busy ) and I do not know how to post pictures. old brain you know. :rotfl2: I get so much help reading post of brides who share very helpful info. I appreciate them so much, they will prob never know how much.

*ps. neener3, I just finished reading your thread, Love your shoes and your dress is stunning. I can't begin to imagine how excited you must be.

Hey, thanks! I see in your ticker that the big day is approaching—what date is your daughter getting married? You must be so excited!

my Daughter is having a wishes wedding on May 4th at the WP, reception will be in a ballroom at the GF. I am so excited, can't even think about it without getting butterflies in my stomach. I will probably start to lose it soon.:rotfl2: And I'm not even the doing the planning, just getting advice from my friends here. Thank you for asking!

Thanks! We're so pumped right now. The 8 month mark to book was TORTURE, and now it seems like it's right on top of us. I have a feeling these 3 weeks are going to crawl though! It helps that our family and friends are so excited for us though, we have good support. I feel like a travel agent at this point with all of the information I've been giving out!

Ok, this is just my opinion but I wouldnt be telling too many people to stop by the dp either. Yes, I'm sure. You can do this, but your wedding day will go by in a blur ( as the best days always do) and the dp is over pretty quick. I wouldnt want to be pulled away from the party you're working so hard on and spending so much money on too many times. I would be more inclined to tell them to come by the grand floridian ( or wherever youre having pics done) to see you. They can take pics at the same time and your photographer will keep things moving so they shouldn't get ian the way much.

I agree with above poster. Not sure if you are taking photos during your DP but if you are, plan on just standing there for the entire thing. Some will be facing the fireworks and some will be with your backs to the fireworks.

Our DP was also in UK Lower. The DP does not last that long and not sure if you want to be away from your guests for that long. The DP goes by real fast. You get there, have some desserts and talk with your guests. Once the fireworks start you are definately occupied. Once the fireworks are over everyone starts moving out of the area. All our guests left within 10 to 15 minutes of the end of IllumiNations. A few of us (our bridal party) stayed another 10 minutes or so and then they started kicking us out also.

There is definately a rope up and security at the rope. It is a bit of a walk down to the DP area so you will not want to be running back and forth while your party is going on.

Linda
