Dessert Party Question

Somewhere on here I read that the Dessert Party goes toward your wedding minimum. I know that if it is on the same day as your wedding, then it goes toward your overall minimum ($10,000-20,000). Does it go towards your food and beverage minimum ($100 for dinner), too?

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe that it does go towards your food and beverage minimum as long as it is on the day of your wedding. However, you might want to double check the description for the venue you are thinking about for the reception -- oftentimes, the venue itself will have a minimum food and beverage amount that you have to meet.

We're having our dessert party the evening of our wedding and it is counting towards our food and beverage minimum. Hope that helps out :)

hmm I am not 100% sure but it may only apply to the food and bev min if your recpetion is at EPCOT. All the venues at EPCOT (minus the bistro) are done by EPCOT catering so it would make sense that it would apply. I am pretty sure it would not apply if you were at a concention center, Cali grill or Ariels because those places have their own mins but again I could be wrong. This was what I was told over a year and half ago so things could have changed:confused3

Maybe another person could verify this....also where is your recepetion??

That might be the case... it never really came up because my reception was originally planned for the AAP, but then got moved to Living Seas so both sites were at Epcot. Maybe someone else who had their reception somewhere else can chime in too.

When I first called, I'm fairly certain they told me it did count as long as it was on the same day. We are having our reception at Epcot, but I asked them before I knew where we were having our reception and they didn't mention anything of the Epcot only rule. I would ask your SM just to make sure though.

Although, let me say that at first, we were worried about hitting minimums and that is why we were wondering this same question. DF and I now agree (after getting further along into planning) that Disney gives you the minimums so you have a realistic expectation of what you will be spending. We are not having any problem hitting the minimums at all -- and we are not having alcohol. I'm not saying it's possible to not hit your minimums, it's just very easy to go over them. HTH! :)

When we got married, the dessert party didn't count towards our F&B minumum, we actually had to hit a second minimum for the party. Our reception was at Atlantic Dance Hall at the Boardwalk. Now, granted, this was 3 years ago, so its entirely possible Disney has changed the policy :)

I am getting married at SBP with a reception at the Attic and my dessert party that night is counting towards my min F&B. In fact, we were a little below the $100 so I had to push the dessert menu up to the next price level to make up the difference. Of course they didn't have to twist my arm or anything...I am totally down with more desserts! ;)

I'm a bit confused. We're currently hoping for a LS reception followed by a DP at French Island. Since both of our functions are at Epcot we don't have a double site fee, but there is an additional minimum for the DP. Hmmmm....guess this will have to be a question to ask....that and the viewing fee when HALF of our party will have AP's!

Here is how it works for us -- we are having our reception at the LS, followed by a dessert party. We must meet the LS minimum of $3500 for food and beverage at that venue (after 2pm). We must also meet a dessert party minimum of $19.50 per person for food and beverage at the dessert party. Then, there is the overall minimum of $100 per person, which can be met using all food and beverage consumed on your wedding day (as discussed above). HTH! :)

hmm most likely you will not have to pay viewing fees for the guests with AP's. I know at my DP before escorting everyone to the site they asked for people who had ticjkets and took count. That way we didn't get charged for those people. The rest we got charged for.

That's exactly what we're doing with on slight difference. Our reception is also at LS, but we are having a brunch in the morning/early afternoon so our overall cost for the day is $75 per person.
