I really wanted to have an Illuminations Dessert Party after my intimate wedding in December. My planner has informed me that the only available places are Morocco or Japan (with no seating) or Uk Upper w/ existing seating. However UK Upper is booked for the evening of my wedding. I thought there were other locations that could accomodate a small party-- like UK lower???? Does anybody have any insight on this -- i really wanted to have the Illuminations Party-- but I need seating for the grandparents that will be there.

There are other locations - you are right - UK lower is one of them. Maybe she told you they were the only ones available because everything else is booked. I had to go with UK upper because everything else is booked. I would ask your wedding planner or sales consultant

Hi, I'm kind of in the same boat. ;) I wanted to have an illuminations dessert recpetion, but where is limited b/c of the number of guests (less than 20). UK upper is nice, so would it be possible to have to hold it another night? This is what I am considering. You can't wear your wedding gown, but you only get disney photo for two hours with the intimate anyway. I'm thinking about having a reception dinner at Contemporary and watching the Wishes spetacular from there. Then the next night spend the day at Epcot, and have a dessert reception at Illuminations. This way I'll have two nights of entertainment, without spending anything more (I was going to have the Illuminations after dinner). Also, this is less moving around. In addition to the welcome dinner, it will seen like we have a whole week of events, instead of one day. Just a suggestion.

That is kind of what I am thinking too!! UK upper is available the night before the wedding so we could do it as kind of a "welcome" party. Or the other option is the Fantasmic Dessert Party on the night of the wedding -- but it is a little bit more expensive than just Dessert Party at Illuminations!! Maybe it would be fun to have the dessert party the night before. I wasn't planning on wearing my dress the night of the wedding anyway -- b/c I don't want to have to pay for the charter bus! Thanks guys -- I am feeling better about it now!

I am having the dessert party the night before at Illuminations at upper UK. I am also just having the guests meet me in the park so I don't have to pay the 12.50 per head and don't have to pay for the bus.

I'm considering doing the Fantasmic dinner package one night, and offering others to join us (at their expense). This way we can all eat together and watch the show, and tada :wizard: , we now have three nights entertainment (especially if you do decide to do the illuminations party another night)without spending anything extra, just you and DH's price for the package. If you can't tell, I really want all my gusets (all 15 of them) to be dazzled by our wedding and surrounding events.

I got married at DW in 2004 on March 6, 4 days ago!!! Anyway, most of our guests were from out of town. DW is a second home to us, so I wanted them to experience why we go so much. After our rehearsal, instead of taking everyone to dinner we took them to see Illuminations in the lower UK. We had open bar instead of dessert. It was a surprise for everyone. We told them 2 hours before. The lower UK is the best spot if possible. Micheal Eisner reserves it for his family. They have Long benches for seating. Everyone said it was the best experience of the week, including the wedding. The park cleared out after Illuminations @ 9:30, we were in the park till 10:30. It was awesome!!!!
