Dessert Party and Open Bar Questions

DF and I have officially started the planning process. We called Disney yesterday and put our information in for a January 2008 wedding. We are so excited.

While I wait for the call back, I have been playing around with our budget and I have come up with a couple of questions! I know that my fellow DISers will be able to help.

We are hoping to have our reception at the Living Seas and then have a dessert party later that night at France Upper (and maybe Lower). I know a few weeks ago a bunch of Dessert Party Menus were posted...could someone send me a link to them? I wanted to get an idea as to cost/items and such.

The second question I have is about the open bar. It costs something like $39/per person. My question is...do you pay the cost of the bar for all "adults" - i.e., anyone older than 9? or is the cost only for those adults old enough to drink? Seems like a silly question, but it could make a big difference if I am paying for an open bar for my 15 year old cousins!

Anyway, thanks for all the help! Now that we are in the official planning process (no longer dreaming - actually planning ;)), I am sure I will be checking in here more often!

I must apologize as I do not know how to link posts. But, this is the dessert post I think you were talking about from gail228

The full bar is only for guest 21 and over...they have a soda package that i believe is like 15dollars (well it was back in 06 probably went up)...We actually had to point out to our planner that we would only have five official children but 12 people under 21...so double check your budget

Also check if they will give you a bar for five hours instead of a four hour reception package and then a dessert party package…I don’t know if they do it all the time but that is what they did for us and it saved us a few 100 dollars

And ever time i look at that dessert party menu i get hungry....

I had my planning session a two weeks ago. We're having our reception at the French island. The soda package is still $15 for guests under 21. They have many different bar packages you can choose from. Good luck with your planning!

Those are good info for me too, thanks!

Does anyone know if I’m going with a hosted bar (since I don’t think many people would drink) what is the average they charge for a drink? Just want to compare both options. :)

We're doing our reception at French Island in APril - looks like that's become a popular place this year!

The Billed On Consumption Bar is $3.50 for soft drinks, $4.00 for juice and bottled water, $4.75 for Domestic Beers, $5.25 for Imports, $5.75 for House wine, $6.00 for Call Cocktails and $6.75 for Premium Cocktails.

There are 3 different options with the hosted bar - one without cocktails at all, one with just call brand and one with everything - that way you can control the prices a little more if you're concerned. We don't have many drinkers either, so this is going to be cheaper for us.

Cool, thank you!!

I was thinking if they charge $15 for a drink, you know, since you won't have a choice anyway.... But that pricing is pretty fair.

This is so good to know! I have quite a few cousins that are over 10, but under 21. I was going to have a hard time paying the cost of an open bar with that in mind. The soda package is reasonable!

I think the French Island is a great place! If we were having our wedding in warmer months, then we would probably do the whole thing there or at the Italy Island. Good to know that the $15 is holding steady...

With those prices, we are definitely doing the hosted bar at some level. My family are big drinkers (not drunks, but like to have a good time) and I think we would end up spending more than the per person costs.
