Dessert overload?

One more thing, the dessert selection in that little alcove (my new best friend) at Cape May was so spectacular that I wanted to START there on my next visit and fill my belly with REAL food if there should happen to be any stomach space left.

We are on the deluxe plan and only sometimes get dessert for lunch, get it for dinner but don't always finish it. And for snack credits we usually just get water at the parks or for the room and the refillable mugs we use for coffee and sometimes for me diet soda and DH reg soda or tea. So no I don't feel it's dessert overload or at least it doesn't have to be.

I didn't say I ate any of the healthier stuff but the kids did. I on the other hand, had a dessert cheat sheet of sorts that I had compiled from this board. DH and I also came back a bit fluffier than when we left but it was well worth it!

I read a thread with people talking about how much weight they lost from all the walking they did while at Disney!;)

All I Know is that I love reading through the Menus to help plan My ADRs!:surfweb:

I'm not a huge fan of the desset options at many of the CS locations so oftentimes we'd get something like yogurt or fruit as a sub for a standard dessert and that helped to cut down on the overload.

We did this, too. I'm not a huge fan of sweets, but my husband on the other hand.. Let's just say if he could he would have dessert for breakfast, lunch and dinner. :lmao:

Well I have to say I had my first Dole Whip last week and ummm can I say YUMMY!!! So by weeks end I had 3-1/2 (the half was my dh's, I thought I'd help him)

Let's see....if you're on the DDP, dessert comes with each meal. Then, seems to me like alot of the DDP snacks are ice cream bars, dole whip, cookies, and funnel cakes. Then we have the refillable mug for use at the resort for lemonades and pop. I have seen it suggested to grab cinnamon rolls, muffins, and yogurt for breakfast. Now I see people excited that the Wishes Dessert party is back (sounds fab, btw). But man, I am getting a cavity and major sugar overload just thinking about all that!! Am I the only one?

This is one of the major reasons why we did not like the dining plan. I'm all for the love of sugar but I can't love it that much.

Agreed. We generally prefer salty to sweet. No dining plan for us anymore. We order what we want and pay OOP.

This is why I gained 15 lbs on my last WDW trip (first time on DDP) even with all the walking. We did do healthy choice breakfasts in the room. In comparison, I just got back from a seven day cruise and didn't gain a pound. My first week back from WDW I melted 5 pounds off very quickly (just by getting back to a regular environment). I thought we wouldn't NEED all those desserts either but turns out if we weren't at a buffet we needed them just to feel full. Then again maybe all the sugar pumping was leaving us with that general 'not full' feeling. Best of luck to ya.

I thought I was the only one!!

I put on 13 lbs in my last 10 day trip on the DP - but it was worth every pound! I LOVE eating desserts with every meal, in fact (as horrible as this may sound) if they were offering me dessert with my breakfast I'd likely indulge....I am on VACATION!

In normal life I am a 148 lb female who eats moderately to obsessively healthy all year long - only to SPLURGE at Disney! I love it....

This trip I'm getting so smart...I'm trying to take off the 10 lbs I don't really need to lose so that when I put on 10 lbs on our epic 2 weeks trip I still fit into all of my normal clothes when I get back....am I a genius or what?

We had 5 days on the DDP last August and felt disgusted by all the dessert by the third day. I had to accpet the fact that maybe one shouldn't eat dessert at every meal! Just because it's free doesn't mean you HAVE to eat it.

Not for me - I could eat sweets all the time and still not get sick of them. :lmao:

But you do have some options! I know some restaurants have fruit options for desserts. Also for your snack credits you can also get a lot of different side dish type items. My husband isn't a huge dessert eater and I know he's gotten things like fries, egg rolls, soup, and pastries as his snacks. Plus, you can always get a drink too.

.

I could tell by your screen name! I'm the same way. I try to cut out sweets at home, but it just doesn't work. So, I only allow myself something sweet after I eat a salad. Yes, I know it might be totally undoing any good work the salad might do, but it helps me eat more salads! :goodvibes

Not a very big sweet eater, don't get me wrong, I never met a donut or pastry I didn't like;), but I don't allow myself to eat them that often. Not only do I avoid sweets at home, but carbs as well.

I find the desserts at the CS places to not be worth the calories, and frankly, do you really need dessert with lunch? So, we ask what we can get in place of the dessert. We've gotten fruit, bottles of water, etc. I never get anything sweet for my snack credits.

However, with dinner, I do like to try the desserts, especially since we use the DDP, normally I wouldn't, I usually just get a coffee. So at Disney, I order a dessert and just take a few bites. I'm usually so full from dinner, I find I don't want much of it anyway. It works because you don't feel deprived.
