I have been looking at all the menus and I have notice there are alot of dessert I would like to try. Have you ever gone to a sit down restaraunt just to get the dessert then leave?? I am going to do it I just want to know if it a common thing for people to do.

Thanks!!

There's no pre-determined way you must order from restaurants. If you want only dessert, there's no problem doing that.

PP is correct. Unless it is a all you can eat place like Ohana, where the dessert is a part of the meal.

Other than that you can do exactly what you wish.

Hi! We have never done this, but we are doing this on this trip. I even asked my travel agent and he said it's perfectly acceptable to do this, even to book an ADR and then just eat dessert. Where are you going to try dessert at? I thought this was a fun idea too! :cake:

It's not common, but people do it. Not against any rules either.

Have I done this? No. Have I wanted to? Yes!!! And of course ordering a dessert for my entree and then another one for dessert doesn't really set a good example for my kids.

If that is all you want than by all means only order a dessert. Of course you need to take pictures and share them with all of us here on the DIS.

1) Perfectly fine to do this.
2) Lots of folks do.
3) Never mind the dirty looks from servers.
4) Or, the cattle prod being readied to move you along if tip is small.

(Just kidding about the dirty looks. :))

I asked the same question!! Planning to do this on this trip as well...dying to try the ooey gooey toffee cake at LTT. Made my adr right at 11:30, so I don't feel too bad for holding up a table ;)

have done this several times - we always let the host know when we check-in that we want dessert only and we leave a generous tip as well.

We have even gotten dessert to go to. They just made us order/pay from the table but it wasn't a problem - that way we didn't feel like we were taking a table that could be used for someone who wants the full meal deal.

Here is a report of a dessert-only meal at Bistro. For some reason the pictures no longer show up.

Although I haven't just gone in for the dessert, this one of my favorite desserts in Disney! It is SO good and we have to go to LTT every trip and of course I get this too!!

I do it frequently. Best place for me is the California Grill. Without an ADR, I just ask the hostess on the second floor if there is room for 2 (or 3) in the bar area for us to have a glass of wine and dessert. I have never been refused a seat at the bar or at a sofa table near the bar. These areas are not reserved and the turnover is frequent as people get shown to their tables.
