Dessert at San Angel Inn

Each member of our family always gets to chose one restaurant they want to eat at on our trip, my brother chose San Angel Inn, which is fine for everyone except for my DH. He is a super picky eater, and mexican never sits right with his stomach. I'm sure he'll be able to order something he'll eat, even if it's just some meat without all the sauces and sides, but for dessert i'm worried. I know he won't eat anything on the menu, which brings me to my question. Most of the other restaurants have plain ice cream, but when I looked on the kids menu, it isn't an option. Does anyone know if you can just get a cup of ice cream for dessert there? If not I guess everyone else can just share an extra dessert, which I definitely won't complain about:lmao:
TIA!

Good question, I don't know, but, the desserts don't look that yummy to me there either.

 FLAN
Does this stuff sound like dessert...or is it just me:rotfl:
I know some people love it its just the name...Wait...Wait for it...
here it comes...FLAN

There is a dessert I had in october that isn't on the allears menu, that was white choc mousse in a brandy snap style basket, it was very nice and quite 'plain' so may be suitable for your DH??

Thanks for this reply. You answered my question, before I asked. ;) I saw that dessert somewhere, but wasn't sure if SAI still offered it. I agree their desserts leave something to be desired. The dessert you ordered was the only one that appealed to me. I'm glad to see they still serve it.

I had that dessert in December (you can see a picture of it and read my review in the second link in my sig if you're interested). I didn't think it was that great, I should've ordered the Flan because at least I know i like that. I thought this dessert's flavor was fine, but the texture was kind of grainy-greasy. The fruit in it was wonderful though... maybe he can just get fruit.

Been to San Angel many times and gotten a dish of ice cream each time. My husband is not a flan lover (but I am). Never had a problem, I seem to recall a time or two they had to ask a manager. One time dh got a sundae with strawberries on it which was nice. Get the filet if its still on the menu, it is very good. And I get that without sauce for my dd and they put white rice on it too. I have some picky eaters and San Angel has worked with me. In fact, all places have. With a adult who is only 10, you have to be creative sometimes! Your real live adult husband should be fine too.

Totally unrelated question here. I noticed your 2nd ticker it says you have 9 days until a Disneyland trip you won. Where/how did you win a trip to Disneyland? Just curious...

The Filete Motuleno is basically a steak with melted cheese. It was excellent. The peppers and such are easy to just remove and not eat. My one son will not eat anything with sauce or spices, even dislikes ketchup and he loved this steak. I could have just eaten a plate of the fried plantains.

As for dessert, I had vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. It was on the menu in Sept 08. I'm sure plain ice cream wouldn't be a problem.

regards

Thanks for the dessert review. I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it. The other desserts don't sound very good to me. Hopefully, they'll add a great dessert, after the refurb. I read your other reviews too. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

I won it from the Los Angeles Fox news station... I can't believe we're going in a week... I've barely even thought about it. I should start thinking about what to pack, huh? hahaha
