DOes anyone have a date for the opening of this ride that is replacing the Jimmy Neutron ride? We are going in August, but don't want to hype it up to my son if it isn't open yet?

Supposed to be a spring opening. So should be open by mid June.

Nooooo!!! We want to go June 11-14 and DD has heart set on Despicable Me. It sounds dicey that it may even be open. Does anyone have a firmer date? Thanks!

Does anyone know what kind of a ride it will be? My daughter will only be 5 when we go and I am wondering if she will be able to do this ride since she loves the movie.

It is a 3D motion simulator ride. If she isn't large enough to ride the moving seats, there are seats that don't move up front.

Universal is doing a webcast on January 25th that will cover many announcement for new rides and attractions coming this year. The opening date of Despicable Me is said to be one of the tidbits they will announce.

The problem with theme parks announcing a firm opening date is if something happens and construction gets delayed, you are going to have people arriving on said date to ride and guess what...the ride isn't ready. I seriously doubt Universal has any idea of a firm date right now and probably won't announce one. Announcing "spring 2012" or "summer 2012" is better since they can't be tied down to an actual date.
