Casey,
Thanks so much for the continued interest! Things are still in limbo here with my cousin's little boy. He is, however, now getting to visit with my aunt and uncle (his grandma & grandpa) as well as my cousin's two sisters. The court had to be petitioned, and they granted my family temporary visitation (which consists of every Wednesday evening and every other weekend). A final hearing is set for March 14th in which we are hoping my aunt and uncle will get more visitation and summer vacation set.
His mommy's death has taken such a toll on him. He cries and screams when he has to go back to his dad's. Begs my aunt not to make him go back (remember, she has raised him since he was a baby because she took care of my cousin every single day for the 3 1/2 yrs. she suffered with breast cancer). It is so very heartbreaking. They had a surprise b-day party for him in February which consisted of everything planned that my cousin wanted to do for him this year had she survived. He seemed to enjoy it, but when asked why he was "sad", he said he just wanted his mommy for his b-day....absolutely heartbreaking.
His dad is still as worthless as ever, goes as far as giving away all his books his mommy used to read to him at bedtime and tells him he's "too old" for a nighttime story....WTH!?!?!? He's 6 years old!!!! Made him throw away his spiderman toothbrush because he needed to "get a real man's toothbrush". Gage got it out of the trash can when his dad fell asleep and hid it in his room cause he wanted to keep it cause mommy bought it. Dad also threatens to throw away his blanket that he sleeps with if he's bad (it was his mommy's breast cancer blanket and he never leaves it anywhere). He's just a horrible, horrible human being.
Continued prayers and prayers for the hearing on the 14th would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Thanks again for asking!
