I think next season wont start off where it left off tonight. Maybe, they will have some "filler" years. Does that make any sense?

I think they may be trying to reach a broader audience and incorporate real life issues.

There's nine pages worth of discussion about the season finale over at ABC's Deperate Housewives discusson board.

From what I gather from there (people went back to rewatch the last 3 minutes of the show):

It wasn't Adam that Susan was with. It was the actor who played on Showtime's "Queer As Folk" - Gale Harold.

No one on that board is happy with the flash forward 5 years.

I'm not either! Especially the part about Mike being gone.

I give the writers . Recovering from the writers strike was a huge task. I think they did an excellent job.

It was a guy from Lost? People on the other thread said it looked like Adam on the show?

I cant remember the charachters name from Lost as it was early in the story. He was one of the others that posed as one of the people that survived the crash. I think it looked like that guy.

I did not like the whole Katherine story line at all. That she buried her daughter and just replaced her with another was creepy.

I know they sent Tom's daughter away but where did they send her to...that part I missed?

The fast forward 5 years, did not like that at all.

Gabby's kids were so chubby, didn't see that coming. And did you see how they had Gabby dressed? OMG

Poor Lynette and her boys. Will she survive raising her boys?

Susan not with Mike I thought the guy was ugly. Not a Susan type.

What happened to Bree's baby...they never show it anymore?
And Andrew still at home...hahaha.

Hated, hated, hated the fast forward 5 years ending.

The rest of the show was GREAT!

If they start off five years into the future in the fall, I will stop watching the show

I agree. They won't pick up where it left off last night, but the show will pick up where it left off before the flash forward and the rest of the series will be how they get there. Isn't it ironic that supposedly Tom and Lynette's kids turn into the troubled kids, when they are the only ones on the show with the nuclear family still intact? Maybe that's why their storyline seems to be headed that way, to show that even with a fairly intact family, your kids can still turn out that way.

Basically agree here......Loved the show until the 5 year leap! I hope someone was just having a bad dream! Edie maybe??? LOL!

I figured the Lynette & Tom's boys would be in trouble. You had to know that they couldn't have a "perfect" family - trouble makes for better TV! I think the 5 years in the future thing was kind of creepy. So was the Katherine storyline! Gary Cole always plays such a good creepy guy! I knew she'd kill him!

– Model-turned-mommy Gabby (Eva Longoria) appears to be raising two daughters. Juanita and Celia were seen playing with Gabby’s makeup and clothes.

– Bree (Marcia Cross) has a cookbook coming out and her son seems to be her agent. She and husband Orson are still together.

– Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is dealing with her juvenile delinquent sons.

– Katherine’s (Dana Delany) daughter Dylan is getting married.

– Susan (Teri Hatcher) has a new man in her life, played by Gale Harold.

Also, USA Today asked Eva Longoria about Kaila Say and Daniella Baltodano, who play Gabby and Carlos’ daughters.

She said, “They are adorable. But I’m not excited about working with children because I’m a really fast shooter. I like to get in and get out and go home to my husband, and children tend to slow that process down. But I am excited about the comedic opportunities.” Yikes!

Kayla was sent to live with Grandma and Grandpa (on her mom's side I guess). What a heart-wrenching moment for Tom.

I read some spoiler sites and a bunch of spoilers I read didn't happen last night....weird because those sites are usually spot on. The flash forward part was right, but not what they revealed. Hmmm, I wonder what is going on.

I personally did not care for the direction of any of the "flash forward" moments except maybe Bree's. It will be interesting to see how they play out, but if that is where the show is "ending" after Season 7 I kind of feel jipped KWIM?
