I was wondering, if you had no other choices for concierge rooms for Christmas at WDW would the Beach Club be the next best thing to Wilderness Lodge/Grand Floridian.

Our only choices are Beach Club, Swan, Dolphin, Poly, and Yacht Club.

Any advice or comments?

Also, which resort would be nice for New Years? Since we are going to be down for 16 dys we thought we break up our trip to 2 different resorts.

Thanks!

Hmmm, tough question. My first answer would be Polynesian, that's where we are staying 12/14-12/23. I love watching the fireworks from the lounge in Hawaii and the convienence of the monorail and the TTC being right there can't be beat.
I would probably rule out Swan and Dolphin, just because I don't care for the decor, unless you can get a really good rate.
I can't say for sure which I would pick if it came down to decorations, probably the Yacht Club.
It really depends on what you plan on doing. Will you spend more time at Epcot or at the Magic Kingdom? Will you have kids with you who will appreciate Stormalong Bay? We recently stayed at the Boardwalk Inn and it was AWESOME, is there no availability or have you ruled that out for another reason? I have heard that the decorations there at Christmas time are really nice.
I am not sure I am helping you any here, maybe so more info about who is going and what parks you like the most would help.
If it were my family, factoring in the quality of the concierge service and our personal preferances, our choices would be;
1. Polynesian
2 Boardwalk Inn
3. Yacht Club
4. Wilderness Lodge
5. Beach Club
6. Grand Floridian
7. Contemporary
8. Dolphin
9. Swan

Thanks for responding. You gave me somethings to think about. In our party there will be myself, my hubby, our 2 dd's, and our ds who is 1 1/2. I was thinking about the Boardwalk Inn and the Villas but I didn't think they did anything for the holidays.

At that time of year I would also think about convenience. All of the resorts are decorated, but none of them will compare to WL, so take into consideration where you will spend the most time. With the huge holiday crowds I would think about where you will be at the end of the day. We're usually New Year's folk, and the resort monorail line to the Poly is a huge factor at 1:00am in a madhouse rush. Likewise the International Gateway was a huge convenience - walk back to the Yacht or Beach.

I think with the ages of your kids, I would do the Polynesian. The concierge lounge there is very kid friendly, as is the entire resort. The closeness to the monorail is also great with the kids and the fact that crowds will probably be larger than usual.
The BWI is a beautiful resort, and the pictures I have seen from Christmastime are spectacular. The concierge lounge is really nice, and the staff there is awesome, the best I have met at a Disney resort. However, it's not as much of a kid type resort, IMHO. Those two would probably be my top choices.

With the age of your kids (young?) I would think that you want to spend a lot of time at MK. So to me the Contemporary would be a good choice. Also, the rooms, which are larger than Poly sleep 5 comfortably.

We spent Christmas several times at WDW. Our favorite is WL but the Beach Club was very kid friendly having cookie decorating in the evenings and character appearances in the evenings. Don't forget, you have the YC connected and can take part in their events also.

We have also been at CSR, CB, POFQ during the holidays. As the days get nearer to Christmas all the resorts have special events. They are very individualized by the resort themselves.

WL had carollers, animal shows.

BC above

CB had cookie decorating and punch, family events at the pool.

I think any place you go you will be pleased. Don't forget, BC has that wonderful pool and access to the monorail through Epcot.
