Desktop: good value?

We are looking for a new computer. Our is about 4yrs (or that is when it was rebuilt). However it has gotten extremly slow. Does this look like a good deal at OfficeMax or what else is there. Basically we use the computer for e-mail, look up websites, download music, and the kids play games. We aren't necessarily in a hurry but this looks like a very good deal compared to others.

What's on this computer? Also, check this weeks Besy Buy ad. They have a lot of really inexpensive desk tops and, laptops too. They also tell you everything that is on their computers on their website.

Personally I don't trust comments from sites like officemax. Rather I read the comments from people on NewEgg. Often they are more technical. The price is better at office max, but the comments suggest limited expansion capability.

Have you tried reimaging your hard drive or scanning for spyware? My desktop starts bogging down and I reimage my hard drive and it helps improve the system performance significantly.

Jumpig on this thread to ask, how do you this? I scan for spyware, delete temp files, run DeFrag and Clean Disk usually when we start getting slow. I don't see deastic improvements. Just wondering what this is you mention and how to do it if it can help me! TIA

we're having problems with firefox right now, just switched to google chrome yesterday, going to see how that goes. (FYI FF was maxing out my system resources, running over 500,000 at times. I did google, so far no fixes.)

You need to save any import files like documents, financial documents, pictures, or anything else you don't want to lose and don't have a backup for. I move everything over to my portable hard drive. Then I follow the reformatting process for my PC. I have a HP and the instructions are on the website. Basically it involved doing a format hard drive command and then reloading Windows. I always put my PC back to the way it came from the manufacturer. My pc has the restore files on a partition on the hard drive...some older pc's have restore disks.
