designing a dcl t-shirt question

We are taking my MIL on a birthday celebration cruise. My DH's family is big on making t-shirts up for major family get togethers. We want to create a t-shirt to mark the occasion, but I am concerned about what I can and can not use in terms of the DCL logo. Can anyone offer me advice? Thanks..

On our cruise last week we saw many family shirts, nothing with the DCL logo

I made up tshirts for our 3-family Magic cruise in November '04. Used the DCL logo and numerous pictures of various Disney characters. Nobody gave me any trouble on the ship - if anything, I received lots of nice comments...

There are also lots of magnetic door signs that also use plenty of DCL/Disney logos and characters. To my knowledge, there's never been any trouble with it.

i made an autograph photo-album thing for my DSs when we traveled. and on the cover, i made the dcl logo, out of cut out papers (kinda like paper pieceing?), and had their names on them. was really cute. anyways, no one (castmates) said anything to us. and they carried those autograph books with them everywhere they went! i think as long as you don't use it to sell or make profit, maybe it's ok?

We made shirts also. Searched for "free disney clipart" and found lots of nice ones including some logos. I used a few,printed them on transfer paper and they made beautiful cruise shirts. My DD loves them.

We have done some custom shirts with characters (like the still from "Lilo and Stitch" where they are on a cruise ship) and have never had any problems. I think they only get upset if you do it for profit rather than personal use. Also, the store where we have them made is a little cautious about copyrights. They will only do a certain amount to ensure you are just having them made for yourself and maybe your family.

thanks for the information. On our last cruise, I picked up a scrapbooking package. I pulled it out to help us with ideas for the t-shirt (no, it has not made it to the scrapbook yet!). I might use the cut outs from the packet as an outline and let the t-shirt shop decide what would be the best medium.

If you are not selling or profiting from the shirts, it likely wouldn't be an issue. It is simply free advertisement for DCL, so they can hardly find issue.
