Designated Survivor

This show has more holes then Swiss cheese. So many thinks don't make sense. I don't think there is such subterfuge in our real government. (Yes even now)

I'm enjoying it but this week's episode had the worst French accent ever.

I'm still watching. I agree the last couple of episodes were better, but only because the've stepped up the Maggie Q part of the storyline. There's still something missing. Never thought I would find Jack Bauer so boring.

In trying to make the President look like a good guy, they've made him unbelievably and irritatingly noble. I laughed at a few of his lines that were supposed to show he is a man of honor, particularly the scenes with him and the Secretary of State/Former President. The writing, at times, can be very cliched.

I noticed this too. He gives these noble speeches and they are trying soooooooooooo hard to make him so righteous and decent it's almost laughable. He gets this tone in his voice and stands in an honor-type of pose while schooling everyone on "doing the right thing."

Isn't that what he is suppose to be? His character is not suppose to be a politician so they portray him in a way that everyone says they want politicians to act.

Yes, but it's a little much. Nobody is THAT perfect. To me, he comes off as too righteous.

On the show, a lot of the people around him treat him as naive in his self-righteousness.

Maybe as a real life politician. But on TV it's just boring.

But that's the point of the show, he's not suppose to be the same as other politicians. His an idealist that has to learn to deal with the way politics works while trying not to compromise his own integrity.

Yeah, I get that. I just don't find that to be compelling TV.

Do you watch the show?
Yes, every episode. Have you read all of the thread?

I get that they're trying hard to create a compelling story line. I have enjoyed the Maggie Q portion of the show. But the stuff in and around the prez? I'm bored with it. Too perfect. Too predictable. Was anyone shocked that he found a way to save funding for the arts?

But it's a TV show. We're all entitled to our own opinions on it.

I've read the thread on and off. I just find it strange when people complain about a show yet still watch it.

But a person can like some parts of a show and not others, right? Or have hope that a relatively new show will improve as it goes along?

Sure but if I found the main part of a show boring I think I would stop watching.

Have to agree with you. I love POTUS on this show. It's not like Kirkman is the first POTUS to be portrayed as being extremely righteous. The Palmer brothers on 24 behaved exactly like Kirkman. Bartlet on West Wing was righteous. And let's not forget Fitzgerald Grant on Scandal.

It's really hard for me to stop once I've started. I currently have 19 episodes of Quantico on my DVR in case I want to keep watching. Even though I've said many times it's not that great. And once I start reading a book, I always finish. Just a personality flaw I suppose. :p

Sure, but just listening to Dennis Haysbert's voice made it time well spent.
