After reading the thread/poll about where you would like the next DVC to be - I had a thought...

If you had to decide where to put a DVC, where would it be? What would it look like? What are the creative details?

I'll start

Alabama or Florida Gulf Coast
Natural beach setting
lots of activities (since it will be away from all of the tourist stuff)
Casual on site restaurant like Cape May WITH Goofy, Minnie, Chip & Dale.
Upscale Seafood Restaurant with FRESH GULF SEAFOOD
Elegant Decor
Southern Charm
bicycle trails
Umbrellas and Chairs provided on the beach
Have Southern Living architect design the complex and feature in magazine, with a membership giveaway.

I'd also like to see something in the Smokies or Blue Ridge Mountains.

OK... you've heard my idea. What's yours??

You read my mind - that is almost exactly what I was thinking about. The only thing I would add is a great pool area with lots of amenities (slide, zero entry, play area, etc...) and plush landscaping (some places that will give a little shade in the hot summer months).

I think this would be great if they really focused on the activities and I would love to have a place that is fun to bike around.

This area is our beach of choice - beautiful beaches and an easy drive from our home. Would love to see a DVC in this area.

Samples: That sounds great!!

What do you think about many buildings or primarily one building? What would be most hurricane resistant?

OK everybody else...what's on your mind??

The Bahamas
New York City
Castaway Cay
Keywest
Tahoe
Colorado
Galveston
Mexico
Cape Cod
New Orleans
Charleston
Arizona
London
Canadian Rockies
Nova Scotia
Upstate New York
Williamsburg
British Columbia
Puerta Rico
Disneyland Paris
Ozarks
Utah
San Francisco

You decide -- you are the imagineer!

New York City needs a DVC resort!

I can imagine wonderful views, a spa and a martini/piano lounge. Toss in a Disney on Broadway "museum" of show props, costumes, playbills and such.

C'mon, this is the only Disney destination in the western hemisphere that does not have a Disney hotel (or DVC resort).

Why is this a such tragedy? Disney on Broadway is the best Disney entertainment offered anywhere in the world . . . and we have no Disney resort in NYC? Yes, I know there was a failed DVC idea for this city . . . but really . . . we do need something there.

I would L-O-V-E a NYC DVC!

I've seen the old plans, and they were very nice. :thumbsup2

I'd love something very upscale.

Who else??

Castaway Cay or Disney World

Very Tropical with a Disney theme, classic characters....everything Disney :lovestruc

Access to the existing facilities and activites on Castaway Cay.

There would be a tubing River winding through the resort.

Great pool area with lots of amenities (slide, zero entry, play area, pooltable, table tennis, shuffleboard, etc...)

Community Center with activites for the kids, teens and adults

Maybe 200-300 rooms with 1 tower and the remainder clusters of buildings with 3 or 4 floors in each.

All rooms have good views ..... Pool view, Ocean view.....

Slightly larger decks than most dvc's so a patio table and 4 chairs would fit comfortably and maybe a fan mounted above for the hot days

Casual poolside sitdown restaurant/bar

Quick Service counter

Upscale/Casual restaurant

and YES I would be buying into this one :cloud9:

I love WDW so my DVC would be on the island in Bay Lake (the one used as the little bird sancuary). It would obviously onle be accessable by boat only. It would be a haunted Disney hotel dedicated to Disney villians. The hotel would have a great beach with haunted pirate ships taking people to and from the island. It would have wandering characters (villians only) and lots of secret passages. It would also have holograms and plenty of that foggy stuff at night.

It would have a great restaurant and some really fun water slides in the large pool.

First priority, it needs to be in a popular destination and easily accessible.

Vero Beach and Hilton Head are examples of not meeting both of those criteria.

Myrtle Beach has been mentioned previously, and that fits the both criteria. I just worry about the seasonal aspect.

The new Hawaii Resort will also meet the criteria.

Anything off shore, IE: Bahamas, becomes an accessibility issue.

Mexico I am sure is off the DVC project list.

Something on the California Coast.....Oh wait, they sold that to Marriott!

A ski location would be nice, but you run into that 7-8 month window of non-use.

A gulf coast resort would be nice, probably needs to be located in Texas....near Dallas/Houston.

Crystal - I agree. Come on Hawaii
Murcor - Ooh that Castaway Cay idea - wow - I'm thinking real POTC!
Tigger - I think they'll have to add on to Discovery Island

TomandRobin - California Dreamin - Cool, but Texas Gulf Coast? :scared1:
You see that just wouldn't work. That is not in my back yard.;)
However, I'm now thinking about DVC with a certain TexMex flair. Can you do adobe structures on the Texas gulf coast? Hmmmm...I'm thinking about eating chips and salsa on the verandah, while looking at the gulf. Ahhh!
Frontierland on the ocean.

I vote for Lake Tahoe. It is a great place to ski in the winter and just plain gorgeous any other time. Here is my wish list -

North shore of lake - away from the casinos
Shoreline access
Walking/biking trails
One nice sized, but not huge, building with nice grocery selection as well as CS
Nice TS restaurant with a huge stone fireplace to make it cozy.
Larger building could accomodate a limited number of rooms for a "cozy inn" feel.
Several individual villas to have a little "cabin in the woods" feel.
King size beds in all of the units
Lake activities - boat rental, water bikes, etc.
Access to ski slopes/lifts in the winter
Other activities like camp fires around the lake, roasting marshmallows, movies on the beach, etc.
Great indoor/outdoor pool for use all year long
And last but not least, a fabulous spa!

Can I make reservations? I love your idea!

I am one who does not intend using my points any where other than WDW (I might do 1 or 2 nights at the new Hawaii DVC if they have magic express type transportation from the airport and ferry).

My ideal would be a “Tahiti” DVC resort next to the Polynesian, build like the intercontinental hotel in Tahiti (build into the side of a cliff) overlooking MK. I wonder where they would get the black sand.

I still say a Vermont DVC would be nice....could have some nice Ski Chalet types places to stay.

Add about 10 feet of snow, and make it about -40 below zero. We could serve microbrews and Ben and Jerrys icecream too!

As someone who lives near the Tx gulf coast... I totally can't see a DVC here. If I were doing one in Texas, I would do it in San Antonio and style it like the missions (think Alamo - "crumbling" stonework, dramatic rose windows)... but I wouldn't do one in Texas.

I would like the one in Hawaii to happen. We're certain to use it, and likely to buy into it.

I would love to see one in NYC, and would use it. I would split it between hotel and DVC. I would theme it around the Disney on Broadway shows, but keep it sophisticated enough to appeal to theatre goers in general, not just Disney fans.

These are so good!

Keep 'em coming - and remember to include lots of details.

I'd love for this to become a really long thread that the DVC people would get ideas from. We've all heard that they watch this board.

Of course some ideas will be totally impractical, or not in Disney's strat. plans, etc., but...maybe something cool will hit a good chord.
