Hi!

I have to say first of all, I am BLOWN AWAY by the talent I have seen on this board!!

And my question is this, my daughter (15) if VERY creative (DH is too!!). I would love to buy her some computer software for her birthday that would allow to be creative, both for our upcoming disney trip, but also for her cheerleading squad and student council at school!

What software do you all use and I am able to purchase it?

Any insight would be very helpful!! She is very computer savy, me, not so much!!

Thanks in Advance!!

Alicia

I use Photoshop Elements and love it.

There are many programs out there and everyone seems to like different aspects of the different programs.

When I was first starting, I got a 30 day trial online of both Photo Impact and Photoshop Elements. (not at the same time - so I could devote all my energy to one - to see if I liked it). Doing the trials first, I was not out any money until I decided if I could do it and would I use it.

I am thinking about ordering Photoshop Elements 6 for my computer. Is this an easy program for me to learn and use to do these designs? I have Paint Pro XL on my computer now, should I just stick with this and keep trying to learn it?
Thanks
Dean

My advice to you would be to get the 30 day free trial of Photoshop Elements as well. That way you can try it out! It was frustrating for me in the beginning to learn but after you get the hang of it, it is easy.

I have never used Paint Pro XL before so I do not know what to tell you about that. It wouldn't hurt to keep trying. Like I said, it took awhile for me to get the hang of it - I think it will take a lot of patience in the beginning with whatever software you choose to use.

I use both Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Macromedia Fireworks 8. Trials for both will be availible somewhere, but may be harder to find because they are older versions.

I prefer Macromedia Fireworks because it is the one I have used longest, but both come out with good results.

:)

I too love photoshop, but on a college student budget, even discounted I can't afford it. I use the GIMP. A free photoshop-like program. I've never had any experience with photoshop elements, but from what I hear it's much easier to use than photoshop (which is pretty involved).

OMG, I have used Photoshop CS3, Photoshop 5 and now am trying Photoshop Elements 6. I have used Photoshop Elements 6 for about 15 minutes and so far am loving it the most. It seems to have all the features I used in the full version Photoshop CS3, 1/5th the cost and way easier to use. A really friendly interface.

Just my 2 cents.
