I need assistance in finding shirts that I can iron on designs for my Mom. She can't lift her arms above her head (actually above her shoulders) to put on a t-shirt. Since the rest of the family is going to be wearing t-shirts, I am trying to come up with a way that she can wear them also. The only creative thought I have had is to cut the shirt in the back and put velcro on it, but that is going to look very tacky. Does anyone know a place I can buy polo/t-shirts that button in the back and then I can put the design in the front?
Thanks, Penny

Don't know where you could find those kind of shirts, but some thoughts:

1) you could 'redesign' a t-shirt by cutting the top seam that goes from the neck to the shoulder, put in grommets and then lace it up with pretty ribbons that are the same color as the designs - that way she could "step into" the shirt, and you could bring the shoulders up and lace them so that the bow goes down lower on the sleeve rather than up by the neck.

2) you could design a shirt like a button-up that has a small design on the area where a pocket in front would go, then put the 'big' or main design on the back instead

Thank you for responding. I didn't realize someone had. I was going to repost the question on the disAbilities thread. I like your ideas and if I can't find something ready made, (I don't sew very well) I will try your idea.
Again, thanks for respsonding. :goodvibes

You might also be able to find a shirt with a "hidden zipper" closure on the front. It would involve cutting your transfer in half, carefully lining it up, and then attaching it to each side. I would think from even a few feet away, you wouldn't be able to tell. Not sure how plausible the idea is, but worth a shot.

Hi!

I read your need and found quite a few options for shirts/t-shirts for someone with limited mobility. I googled "adaptive clothing". You may find exactly what you need.
