I was wondering if anyone knew of a design on here related to the Archery Training now being offered at Ft Wilderness? I am looking for an invitation to give to my son, surprising him with an archery lesson while his sisters do the BBB. Thanks for any help.

WOW!! Archery in FW! I'll have to check it out next time I'm at the park. I teach archery where I work. Be interesting to see how they do it there.

I'll be glad to do this one for you. I have a picture of Goofy doing Archery in typical Goofy fashion. If you want something more serious let me know.

Goofy doing archery? Yes, yes... I would love it! Thanks so much.

Here is a little something about the archery - it just started in July. Looks fun, and I think my son will really love it as he is all of a sudden obsessed with Prince Caspian and the like.

Here is a mousesteps article about it:

Thanks again!

A couple of questions:

1. What format do you want? Right now I'm designing it for a single sheet of paper that can be folded in fours to make a card. If there's a different size/format you want just let me know.

2. What are the times and date of his lesson? Feel free to PM me that info if you'd like to keep it private.

I teach archery to an average of 100 youth a year at a local Boys & Girls Club. Fell in love with the sport after trying it there about 20 years ago. It's a fun and challenging sport! In the time I've been teaching archery I've had 3 archers go on to join Junior Olympic Development Programs and all have done well though no Olympians....yet!

Yes, that sounds perfect! :thumbsup2

I will send you a PM. Thanks.

That is fabulous! What a wonderful way to give back. And to have so much success with your students - fantastic! Great job! :thumbsup2

Thanks again! :goodvibes

I sent you the DISign. Here's a one page version I'd be willing to modify if anyone else would like one.

Dom -nice job. :goodvibes I like it. The last time I used a bow and arrow (35 years ago), I shot at the bullseye and hit a bird that was flying above the target. :lmao: I decided that archery wasn't for me. :thumbsup2

It is a little unnerving thinking about my 7 year old with a bow and arrow! :rolleyes1 But it'll be his daddy's rear-end who gets it, as I won't be around to see! :rotfl: Maybe they clear all wildlife from that area before the sessions start! This little addition to the recreation at Ft Wilderness, could prove to be dangerous to some of the peacocks! :rotfl:

Interesting....I usually don't start them until age 9 occasionally 8 if I feel they're ready. Most kids before that don't have the strength to hold the bow steady. The biggest thing for success is strength. Push-ups, pull-ups and any thing else that involves upper body use (hitting a baseball, shooting a basketball etc.) can help.

I made my son a T-shirt using Dom13's invite she created for you and thought I'd share here, I know your trip is comming up soon, I would LOVE to hear back about your feelings on the Archery with your son, we are going next year and want to take DS6 :)

During our last trip we saw the Archery Lesson going on by the Meadow Pool. It looked like fun!

First off, GREAT SHIRT! :thumbsup2 LOVE IT! :goodvibes

Secondly, my son absolutely loved the archery lesson! It was one of the highlights of his whole trip! I have some pics that I can post later on of him shooting! He's only 7 and he did fairly well holding the bow, loading it, and shooting it (even had better aim than his Pop Pop). He got a bullseye dead center once and a lot of other good shots! It was a lot of fun! Our only problem was our timing was off...I should have allowed more time for the guys to get back to us for dinner - so plan for at least an hour to get from Ft Wilderness after the archery to wherever you are going (i.e. don't schedule an ADR at 4:45 when the archery gets out at 4:15 - thought they could make it, but didn't). Archery gets a big :thumbsup2 thumbs up from my group though! Have fun!

Um...well....:rolleyes1 haven't gotten there yet! :lmao:

Just started the report, and I've made it through our arrival to Orlando. :rotfl: The Archery was on Day 3!

But I will try and post some pics on this thread (they are on the home computer so I don't have them here at work). But please come and read my trippie if you'd like! The more readers, the better! :goodvibes
