Desert Palms is an excellent hotel. We stayed there several times before and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The only reason we haven't stayed there recently is because we like being either right across the street (Desert Inn) or on property, though the Desert Palms is much nicer than the hotels across the street.
It's about a 5 minute walk from the entrance (maybe 2-3 blocks). Interior hallways. It's quiet, we didn't hear any traffic noise. No park views, but the views of the street and peoplewatching can be interesting!
There is a 7-Eleven next door, which was fantastic for grabbing water, pop, and small on-the-go snacks. Or even getting a convenience store hotdog - hey, you're on vacation...live on the wild side!
The breakfast was great the last time we stayed there (probably 4-6 years ago). It included hot items (Eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage), cold items (yogurt, fruit), and make your own waffles or toast. I'm uncertain after the COVID shutdowns if it has returned to this, so this is something you may want to call the hotel to confirm.
