OK, I am sure you all know the idea behind the above (except I can't quite remember the rules so I'm going to make them up :)!)

If you were to be abandoned on a Desert Island, what 5 Disks would you take with you (humour me, all you mini Ipod owners! And pretend you have left it behind :)) I thought I would make it 5 as we could be here all night if I said 10!!

OK, can you list - the artist, the album and most importantly why you would take this disk. Am I showing my age now with all this disk business?!!!

Here are mine:

The Cure - Disintegration My favourite band in the world with my favourite album - bar none. Why? It's atmospheric, when I listen to it I am transported away.....(hopefully away from the Desert Island LOL)
O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits - Aerosmith There's a song for every mood on here - great OTT music. Love 'em! (You can all imagine what my favourite ride is at MGM LOL) Can't beat a bit of air guitar to Aerosmith :teeth: Cheesey rock at its finest I say!!
100 Years of Magic - WDW Park Music Well, why do you think I want this one????????????
Elvis - 30 # 1 Hits - Elvis Elvis is a bit of a recent discovery of mine (I blame Lilo & Stitch for this one!). Like Aerosmith (well he's not like them but you know what I mean) there is a song for every mood - plus I get 30 songs on this album which is far more than on most :)
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine I love this album. Full of very "energetic" music. Love the drums, the vocals, the music, the lyrics...and the very many memories of dancing with my friends over the years :)

So what are your 5 Desert Island Disks????

Karen

Ok, my 5 would be

Simon and Garfunkel..The Concert in Central Park
Elton John..Songs from the West Coast
Eva Cassidy...Songbird
Queen... Best of...
The Lion King...The Soundtrack

all of which I have in my car!

Gill

Oohh it's quite hard!

Mine for now would be.............

Marvin Gaye--Let's Get it on--Loved this since 1973
David Bowie--Ziggy Stardust--Ditto, about the same!
Neil Diamond-Greatest hits--reminds me so much of my Mum.
The Who--Meaty,Beaty Big & Bouncy
Simon& Garfunkel--Bridge Over Troubled water

Oasis--What's The Story Morning Glory (OK that's cheating!)

:bounce:

Mine would be

Erasure - Pop 20
Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - Mainstream
Abba - Gold
Dirty Dancing - Original Soundtrack

yes rather an ecclectic mix!!

Cath

PS wonder if we can guess each others ages by our choice of 'discs':D

Oo, fun! Let's see. I'd pick:

The Greatest Hits of Petula Clark (Petula Clark)
and
Judy Garland: Live at Carnegie Hall (Judy Garland)
At last, I'd be able to belt along with Petula and Judy and not worry about anyone overhearing me!

Very (Pet Shop Boys) -- I love every song on this album.

The Greatest No. 1 Singles (various) -- I picked up this album in London, and it's got loads of terrific songs ... from Queen to Oasis.

Les Miserables (Original London Cast) -- Again, I could belt along with the cast and not worry about making other people's ears bleed. Plus, a lot of the songs might get me fired up enough that I'd find a way off the flippin' island!

LOL Cath, I was wondering that when I reviewed the songs I had put :) I would put you at early thirties....am I anywhere near??!!

Anyone want to guess me??

It looks like we all enjoy a very diverse range of music!

Ohh let me see....

Garth Brooks - In Pieces - strange I know, but I love it!!

Bon Jovi - How can I pick just one CD it would have to be a random pick at the end :) I love my Jon Bon :)

The Disney Experience - lots of lovely Disney songs

Joss Stone - quiet like this one at the moment, very chilled out cd.

Oasis - Whats the Story (love all these songs, reminds me of Uni days)

What do you think :)

edited to say -

spot on!! Though I wonder if my last countdown gave it away...???!!

Cath, your DH has impeccable taste!! (Obviously I am referring to his choice of wife as well as taste in music LOL) It's quite rare to hear of Cure fans these days :(

Cath, you were close enough for me - I'm 30. I've just re-read Kaylee's post and realised I've totally misunderstood it. I thought Kaylee was saying "same as me" to what Cath had said - ie she was the same as Cath - but I know realise Kaylee meant same as me !

So the post I made after that makes no sense at all. Durrrrr......

Boy, am I starting to feel like the old fogey now!!?? With all this talk about age I've nearly forgotten what the thread was supposed to be about! Ah, that's it, music!!

My choices are (hold on to your hats here!);

1. Anything by Def Leppard (Adrenalize if you're gonna pin me down to one)

2. Status Quo, Heavy Traffic

3. Queensryche, Operation Mindcrime (greatest concept album of all time!!)

4. Thin Lizzy, Live And Dangerous (greatest live album of all time!)

5. Tesla, The Great Radio Controversy (greatest twin lead guitar work I've ever heard).

Special award goes to Quo, still touring relentlessly even though most of 'em are nearly 60!! Never tire of seeing them live!

So there you have it, Night-train's brain-melt concoction!

For the record, I'm NOT 33!!!!!

:jester: :jester: :jester:

I AM 33................(plus 10 years;) )
