Desert Inn vs Tropicana

Just got back from DI &S yesterday..was in a standard room. 201 at the front of the hotel..we were right above the breakfast room but heard no noise.
was a good stay...beds are comfortable and rooms are clean..
only minus was the lights at night..the room was never dark with all the security lights on..
I have also stayed at a room in the back and it is very quiet there and not so much light..

you were in a standard room at the front of the hotel?! hmmm...i just called DI&S this evening and he said that all standard rooms were in the back, farthest away from the street on floors 1-3...so i asked about the parlor suite, and they told me that the parlor suite is only on the 4th and 5th floors and some of them are closer to the front of the hotel. maybe i'll call back tomorrow and ask them again about the standard room.

Our family and friends stayed there labor day weekend. We had a pleasant stay. Like everyone already has stated it's nothing fancy but clean.

We stayed in a standard room on the bottom floor. Our room was the second room from the parking lot so for us the walk was not long at all.

Our friends stayed in the room that sleep 10 (sorry, forgot the name) and they were on the 4th floor close to the elevator and towards the front of the hotel.

Hope this info helps.

Quick question about the Desert Inn & Suites .... I've got reservations for the place ... got a really good price ... and was wondering if anyone had been their early for their check-in (my flight gets in around noonish ... and I guess they start check-in at 3PM)

I've heard they are not very nice or accommodating about this. Anyone have any knowledge of this?:confused3

We have been their early before too. If your room is ready they may let you in early but if not they did store our luggage for us. We have never had them be rude to us. Of course, some employees are just friendlier than others but never have they been rude.

For all of our stays at DI&S, we have never been allowed to check in and get a room key before 3. We could check in and park, but not get into a room until 3. Seems silly, since we arrived at 2 once and then right at 3 got the room key. But whatever. We usually go grab a bite to eat when that happens, as we are arriving after a long drive.

I don't know what rooms are up front, as I was told specifically all the standard rooms are at the back of the property. Interesting.

We had a great stay at the DI&S in May. As they others have mentioned it's nothing flash, but location is everything especially with small children. It was quiet. We arrived at 2.30 and were lucky to get into our room.
