Has anyone here stayed in one of the parlor suites with a pull out sofa bed? We actually stayed in one last year but we never unfolded the couch to see what it was like. Is it super uncomfortable? What size sheets does it take? How far off the ground would you say it is?

We will be traveling with a 3 year old. I'm not sure if we'll have him use the sofa bed or if we'll bring an inflatable toddler mattress or what.

I can't sleep with him in bed with us so that's not really an option (unless it's just for a couple hours in the morning or something.)

I'd ask if you can have a couple extra pillows and just put them on the sides. That's how we handled pull outs for younger kids. Then they can't roll and get stuck in the sides. Works perfectly.

I hadn't thought about the extra pillows. Thanks. I'm still on the fence about whether or not we'll use it or bring an inflatable toddler mattress on the floor. The plus of the mattress would be that we could move it into our room if we wanted.

Our trip isn't until February. At home he's still in a crib but around his birthday (September) we will be moving him to a toddler bed.

I slept on one back in 2013. It was extremely uncomfortable for me, so much so that I went to Walmart and bought an air mattress to put on top of it (I still have the air mattress, and it's come in handy a few times). But a kid shouldn't have any problems. The room was already stocked with pillows and blankets for it, but I'm sure you can request extra.

I totally understand being nervous about a kid not used to a bed being in one, but the pillows definitely kept my kids where they should be. Good luck with whichever you go with!

If your kiddo is a wild child sleeper like mine :tigger:...we roll blankets up lengthwise and put them under the fitted sheet on both sides of the bed. Works great! The fitted sheets keep them in place and it creates a high enough bumper on both sides that my son doesn't roll off. Pillows werent enough to contain my rowdy 3 year old sleeper, they just fell off when he would move around. Lol!

You know what's funny? Mine were wild crib sleepers too but once they got into a bed they stopped. I don't know if it's the tucked in sheets/blankets and stuff, but they tended to stay put aside from a little side to side. No more upside down tho LOL

We've tried giving him a toddler pillow and a small blanket in his crib and it did not go well. I guess 2+ years of an empty crib...and he's just used to it. So I have no idea how the transition is going to work. As it is, when he fights sleep (which is often, especially at nap), he'll stand in his crib. So I suspect once moved to a bed he will want to stand at the gate in the doorway. Toddlers are so fun...haha.

My oldest HAD to cry himself to sleep. I tried it all. Rocking, singing, sitting by him, holding him. He just needed to fuss. He did it until we bought him his toddler bed. No joke. After we got him out of the crib he never cried at night again. Weirdest thing ever. He stayed put too! So hopefully he'll surprise you!!

That travel bed is super cool and may be worth a try if you are nervous about him in a real bed. If nothing else, you could have it as a backup plan.
We stayed in one of those parlor suites but my son was still in a pack n play at that time so we only utilized that separate area during his naps. The downside to that room for us was that there was a rather large gap under the door so every bit of parking lot noise, people walking by...etc could be heard and would have been pretty disturbing for the babe. Maybe they have rectified that in the last few years though.
The transition is super scary but it went way easier than we thought it would... Hopefully it will for you too!

You lucky woman, your three year old will sleep in a crib. By 15 months mine was climbing out...and falling every night at 2 am. The clock would strike 2 and then THUD/Whaaaaaa! The crib was a danger for him so I had to put him in a toddler bed. But if I couldn't keep him in a crib I sure couldn't keep him in a toddler bed. it was up and down all night. Ugh.

We have stayed in the parlor suite but we also didn't use the pull out. I booked when my sister was supposed to come with us but she backed out. We did sit on the couch and ate breakfast in that area and it was pretty comfy

When my kids were little, we would pull the mattress off of the sofa bed and put it on the floor. To be clear, I never did this at DI&S, but have at many other hotels. We didn't have to worry about them rolling off, but we also did not have to pack an extra inflatable mattress.

We noticed the light/noise issue during our stay last year. Our son was waking way earlier than we would have liked. So a few days into the trip, we started bringing him into our room/bed. We are NOT bed sharing people but it worked for an extra hour or sleep in the morning. I could see us doing that again. A towel on the floor by the door helped a little but not quite enough.

Well, our son has a gross motor delay so he's never really been a climber at all. He was only taking his first steps at 15 months. That makes it pretty easy to keep him in the crib.

I think we may be leaning toward the mattress the more I think about it.

Bumping my old thread.

Anyone else have experience with the pull out in a parlor suite? Are the sheets/pillows folded up inside it or are they elsewhere? I don't like the idea of the sheets just being on there for who knows how long before we get there.

I am now leaning toward using the pull out with inflatable bed rails.

We stayed there a year ago. I seem to remember that there were sheets already on it, but can't remember for sure. The pillows were not folded up in there. Our then 10 year old daughter slept on it. I don't think it would be comfortable for an adult, but she didn't have issues with it.

Have you tried white noise to help him fall asleep? We have a homedics from target. Definitely bringing it on our trip.

Yeah, he is a crazy sleeper who rolls all over the place in his crib (which is why I'm kind of nervous to move him to a bed in a few months.

We bought our oldest a bunk bed when she was about 2.5 and built just the top bed because it has a built in rail. Now our son uses that bed. It keeps him in and we don't have to worry about him falling out and didn't have to buy a toddler bed. Plus one day we can build the whole bunk bed and he'll think that's fun too.

LOL! Yes, soooo much.

Our son climbed out early too and had to transition to the bunk bed top I mentioned above way earlier than his big sister. Hoping baby sister isn't a climber.

Most hotels keep sheets, pillows, and blankets for extra beds in a plastic bag in the closet space.

I guess if the sheets are already folded into the bed, I can just asked for new ones.

He does use white noise (a fan) to sleep at home. Last time we planned to just buy a cheap fan at Target. But the fan that is in the wall between the rooms was loud enough for him. Hopefully that will be the case again this time.

I am thinking about getting these bed rails - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J0YTT7...lid=2RZ916WC1YAKV&coliid=I10CGAX388415A&psc=1
