So, TB, I've been doing a lot of thinking. I've come to the conclusion that we all have very different tastes in music. Some of us prefer the Positive Message Stylings of Martina McBride, while others prefer the honesty of Pink. Thus bringing me to the point of this thread.

What exactly is your taste in music? What style do you enjoy the most? And why do you think that?

I was raised on country music. It just comes natural that country artists are among my favourites. I can't remember a time that I didn't like George Strait, Reba, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Lee Ann Womack, and so many more. I've always been partial to break up and cheatin' songs. They always have so much raw emotion and they are so real. That's real music to me.

Lately, however, I have been exploring the other genres of music. I've found that I really like the drivel of most pop and teen styled music. I now consider myself a fan of David Archuleta, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Colbie Caillat, and so many more. I haven't forgotten my country roots, especially since most modern country is basically pop music anyway.

So, how about you?

My taste in music is so varied.
I love country, I love rock. I love indie, I love classical. I love hiphop, I love oldies.
The thing I look for the most in music is how it makes me feel. There are songs out there that I love because they just make me feel good. There are others out there that I love because they remind me of something special in my life. Other songs I love because they just make me feel something else or they make me think.
That's the biggest thing with music with me. As long as it makes me feel something...anything, I love it. It doesn't matter if the feelings are good or bad, because there are some songs out there that remind me of the bad times and I relive those emotions everytime I hear that song. Yet I still love the song because it's a part of me.
And then there are also songs that I just like to listen to and have fun listening to them. That's where most of the pop music comes in. Those songs are usually just simple and fun to listen to and makes me want to dance.

I am into the more emotional rock. I guess that is one way you could describe it. My Chemical Roamnce, 30 Seconds To Mars, A.F.I., Bullet For My Valentine, Evanescence, Fall Out Boy, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin. Some may call it Emo music, others even go as far to say Goth sometimes.

I also listen to Broadway soundtracks.

I don't really know how to describe my music taste. It is pretty eclectic though. What I listen to sometimes depends on my mood.
I've always been into classic rock because I grew up listening to it. My dad always used to play his guitar a lot and he would play Zeppelin and Van Halen mostly.

I listen to different types of music depending on my mood. If its raining I have a play list that has a lot of Bob Dylan. Then if I'm super happy I switch to Bubble gum pop and listen to Mika.

I've never been able to describe my music taste.
I like that whole fall out boy, the academy is, blink 182, cobra starship, cute is what we aim for, panic at the disco scene. Those are all my favourite bands. I like older stuff like Queen and Aerosmith and then just random songs from random artists. I guess if you were to listen to Itunes, I like alternative and rock.
I really hate the whole omg I love panic, tai, fob people though xD I mean seriously that basically means they like a few select tracks off pretty odd, foile a deux, fast times at barrington high etc and they think the band members are fit. Oh but of course nobody has even heard of most of those bands here, phew! xD Given I didn't like Fall Out Boy until they released infinty on high though, but I went back to their older stuff, not right back just as far as Short fast and loud and those songs.

That's a pretty varied taste, Julie. I like how you said that you liked music that made you feel a particular emotion. I've always liked music that can make anyone with a heart break down in tears. I don't know why, but sad sogns have always been among my favourites. (Which may explain all the break up songs on my iPod....)

Hmm...I love just about everything. I guess what I most listen to is pop/rock or alternative type music. I'm not a fan of rap or hiphop. I like old music. I really like Taylor Swift. Not a fan of really twangy country.

Wow! You go from MCR and FOB to broadway songs? That's a pretty big leap!

Yeah, I honestly listen to anything and everything, and I love it. lol
But yeah, emotion and feeling is huuuge for me when it comes to music.
And I'm a total sucker for those sad songs too, Billy. They tear me up inside, but I love them. lol

I've found that it's the sad stuff that really makes me an optimist. I always get up and say, "No matter how bad my life is right now, I'm not the person in *song here*."

I grew up listening to 90's pop (Shakespears Sister, Annie Lennox, Meat Loaf (Bat out of Hell II onwards) etc.) and 80's Punk/Post-Punk music, Most of which I still listen to to this day.

My music taste is quite diversed I guess, I listen to of Metal, Rock, Pop, Dark Cabaret, New Wave and classical. I guess I'm a classical guy at heart (nearly all my fav bands feature huge classical influence or are practically classical musicians). Most of my artists write about things that I can relate to or there music just affects me in different ways. One of the things I like about my musical taste is theres a big symphonic thing about it, only about 5 of the bands don't have a keyboardist/used an orchestra.

Nearly every musician I listen to is very visual and theatrical too, examples:
-Emilie Autumn whose stage is done with an asylum theme and she adds an amazing theatrical element to it.
-Candy Spooky Theater there shows are pretty much sumed up in there name (Spooky yet fun)

My taste is differing. My "main squeeze" is alternative rock music.

I like everything from 90s punk to 70s disco to 40s classical. I like everything from Rihanna to The Get Up Kids to ABBA. My music is my own, I listen to what makes my ears happy. If I like something, I listen to it. I don't belong to one specific type of music.

I like some of Meatloaf's stuff. Now that I think about it, the 80s had a lot of great music. Billy Joel is one of my heroes.

I also like lady gaga's music.
I love boys like girls too.

Just anything.
and i like any of the top new songs.

Meat Loaf's a pretty cool singer, I got into him through my grandmother haha she took me to his concert in 2003/2004 (my first ever concert).

Oh I also like Industrial music because its good music to calm me down or if I'm working on something.

I like Decode by Paramore. I haven't heard enough of their music to decide on whether I like the group or not. Boys Like Girls has a few songs that I like, like Hero/Heroine and The Great Escape.

What is Industrial music? I've never heard of it before.

I have a wide range. I basically can get into most stuff except country and rap.
I think that you should try country, Mitsu. :p Most of it isn't that twangy anymore. It's like the offspring of pop and 60s country. I'm with you on rap though. I like to understand the words.
