Deposit Question

I called and spoke with a guide last week. He was great and answered all of my questions. We are going to purchase 150 points using the 15% referral incentive. He said that the 15% would go towards the down payment. He then said that all we need to do to get the paperwork started was to pay down $1470 (10%) on a credit/debit card. I have read that people pay $500 to get things started. What's up with this?

We just recently bought. It took $500 to get it started, then once approved we paid $970 . Then financed the rest.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why our guide told us we had to pay $1470 upfront?
