I didn't cancel my DH cell phone, just suspended it while he was gone.

yes-they will let you suspend cell service-i did that for hubbys phone and air card both-he took them with and then when he let me know they would be leaving theater in the next 24 hours or so i went and turned them back on so they were were working when he hit the states-helpful since his mob station was ft hood-and he went from there to ft bliss for a school before coming home.
