Hey all,

We did a week long trip last year for the first time with the kids (8, 2) last year and by the last day they were DONE. We did AK last day just because that's how plans worked and I felt bad because I don't think either enjoyed it given the walking required in the park.

We're doing another week long trip this year and I currently have DHS planned for that day (like AK, this would be our one day in that park). But the more I think about it I wonder if that's another mistake. We have a resort day planned in the middle of our stay and a water park day in there too but wondering if maybe swapping the water park and DHS isn't such a bad idea given water parks can be taken more at a relaxed pace?

We have a 530 flight so the "day" ends at about 3 anyway (rent a car and will park wherever we go) so just wondering what the consensus "last day" plan most people do at the end of a long trip.

Thanks all!

For the very reasons you mention, we don't do a park on our last day. In fact, we try to take a late morning flight so we can simply wake up, eat breakfast and go.

I would go to the water park or even consider making your last day your resort day. On last days when our flight is later, we have just gone to the pool and then had lunch before it's time to head to the airport. Since you have a car, though (we never do), going to the water park is a good idea. Definitely more relaxing than going to a park!

By a resort day, I take it you mean hang at the pool, sleep in and stuff like that.
That is a good idea with younger children to have a break day.

Before advanced fastpasses, we all could just play it by ear and take the waterpark day when the weather forecast seemed the best. That's gone. There is a lot of walking at the waterparks too and there's a lot of steps. I think many children will have a higher energy level at the waterpark . Lots of stuff they want to check out.

We just spent a week at WDW and had a 5:00 flight on our last day.

We woke up, went for one last swim and finished packing for check out which was at 11.

We then went to Animal Kingdom Lodge and walked around for a bit - had lunch at Sanaa which was amazing.

After that we went to Disney Springs for about an hour to pick up last minute souvenirs. Then we headed towards the airport around 2:00.

We usually take the 6:55pm flight home, and get the 3:45 or 4:00 DME to MCO.

Our last day consists of packing last minute items, toiletries etc, get to airline desk to check in luggage, then we have a later TS breakfast, maybe 10:00am, and after go to the closest park for awhile, this trip it's MK. I like to get back to our resort an hour before DME. To get some snacks for our flight, maybe eat a light meal, get carry on from Bell Service and change for our flight.
So yes, we do go to a park our last day, but it's maybe just a couple of hours.

Sometimes in the past we've just had a relaxing resort/pool day. We request a late check out. But many resorts have showers and change rooms with lockers by the pool.

I'm not sure how your plans are set up during your vacay, but if your kids are that tired by the end of the visit, maybe building in a mid day break every day in your plans would help?

Normally we have a 3:30 flight out so get our luggage dropped off and then go to MK from 9-11:30 and then head back for the MDE. It is an extra 3 FP to use. Next trip is in June (staying BC) so we will target Epcot for that morning to get another tier 1 FP there, hoping for the new frozen ride.
