Department 56 Collectors

I love Department 56. I collect the North Pole Series and have just started the Halloween Series. This stuff is so expensive though! I don't have much.....I usually only get something when I find it on sale (and its still expensive then LOL). I found a website www.d56.net that has Department 56 items alot cheaper than I have ever seen them, but I am also suspicious of it because of the prices. Its still expensive, but it beats the sale prices I have seen in stores. It looks like you are buying direct but it is not the 'official' department 56 website I have seen.


I was just curious if any one else out there collects this, or has anyone visited this website and bought anything off it?

We collect Christmas in the City. They will put out the reitirement list in November (go to their website and sign up - they'll e-mail it to you). Then we'll get the ones that are retiring if they are ones we are interested in.

We collect Christmas in the City and have some Dickens Village pieces. In my son's room we have a few North Pole Village pieces.

My mom is a huge D56 collector with a Snow Village that fills an entire room year round. She also has the Halloween Village, Easter and Seasons Bay. She was on the board of her local D56 group.

I have the same collecting bug as her so in our house we have North Pole, The Disney Parks series (which was discontinued), Halloween and Easter. Our local dealer sells all retired pieces at 50% off. I just bought two Halloween pieces yesterday. I have also bought some pieces on ebay at great prices. Usually from dealers with overstock or people selling off collections.
