Hoping someone can help. We have a 3+ hour layover in Denver on our way to Orlando next week. There will be a 9 year old boy with us who has never flown before.

I am wondering if there is a good spot in the airport where you can see landings and takeoffs? It would be interesting for the kids and help us kill some time. (I normally spend time in the club lounges but that wont work for this trip).

Thanks in advance!

Denver is pretty much a "horrible" airport for anyone.

I fly in and out of it about 10 times per year (homeport is Portland).

The train rides are best suggestion, but be aware they are "bullet-like" and move very quickly and start and stop with a jerk.

Some small children may not enjoy that very much.

Denver's selection for Food-wise...eh...:( But you could probably buy some cones at MickeyD's and "consume" 10 or 15 minutes.

There are various works of art--sculptures, etc, in the Denver airport, and at the information booths, you can pick up a flyer that will tell you about it. Not that little kids might get into all the details, but if you make it into a treasure hunt or something, that can kill some time.

I usually eat at Wolfgang Puck's Express at that airport. It's good. I see people on the DIS making it a priority to eat there at DTD from time to time.

To answer your original question, if you walk to the end of any of the concourses, you can see at least one of the runways.

There is also a bridge between concourse A and the main terminal. You can hang out there and occasionally a plane may taxi right underneath you.

This is all from memory several years ago, but I don't think the airport has changed that much.

Yeah, still there. The link posted to DIA tours SHOULD detail that...
