Dentist Treatment at Disney?

My son had braces fitted 2 months ago and last week one of the brackets broke while eating a snadwich, he now has it fixed. I was wondering what happens if it happens at disney? this time it was just a bracket but if its a wire sticking out it would need fixing right away. Do dentists visit the resorts? will insurance cover dentist issues?

Never looked into Dental care, someone will hopefully help. For insurance every policy is different but they rarely give much cover. Just checked my policy with M&S £200 less £50 excess, not something I would bother claiming for.

Apparently very limited and for pain relief only. Never used one thank goodness though!

I would think an urgent repair like that would be covered.

Hi there,
My DD13 also has braces fitted and her orthodontist has told us that if we ever had a problem like that to just take off the little rubber bands and remove the wire ourselves.
He said it wouldn't hurt her to be without it for a week or two.

thanks for mentioning this, I wouldn't have thought of doing that. He will probally be okay but I like to know what to do just incase

Whatever you do - if you think there is a chance that you will need to get professional treatment make sure in advance you are definitely covered by insurance, but bear in mind some policies have an opt-out for pre-existing conditions. Not that having braces is a 'condition' necessarily, but I would advise you to check carefully. The cost of paying OOP could be expensive

Was just going to say the same sort of thing. Although not related to my teeth, I had cause to have to be in Celebration hospital for a day during our last trip. Could not believe how expensive it had been when we got the bill at the end!

My extra suggestion would be to also contact your own dentist/orthodontist before you go and ask them for advice on what to do should the bracket break again. Like Sarah says, he may be fine without it for a week or two.

Just a general bit of advice - when my son had his braces the dentist was very strict and advised us that he would only do one repair free of charge. He gave us a list of foods to avoid i.e french bread, ribs etc... I learnt to cut problem foods into mouth sized chunks to avoid him having to bite lumps off.
