Dental pain is worse than labor pain.

That's all I have to say. Thanks. :sad1:

3 completely unmedicated births - a breeze, no problem

going to the dentist - would prefer full sedation if I had a chance

I knew you women were exaggerating the pain of giving birth, if men gave birth, they would just rub some dirt on there ****** then go play ball

I was odd, no pain with labor for about 11 and half hours just pressure, cause DD was not turned around, so I can't say how my labor would be compared to mouth pain.

But let me tell you what I know for sure, mouth pain can kick my butt at any time.

With my first child, I had back labour. I've also had drilling without any medication. I'd MUCH rather have the dental pain. IME, dental pain has nothing on back labour pain.

LOL, this is me too (except I've only had 2 unmedicated births) I still remeber going in for some kind of dental work and the hygenist came in to ask how I was doing and I remember telling her that I'd rather be giving birth :lmao: She said that she gets a lot of women who come in there and say that.

Two completely unmediated births of pretty big babies. One with back labour. I agree that those were easier to cope with than the aftermath of having 4 impacted wisdom teeth out.

I'm sorry you're in pain.

For those of you who say dental pain is worse than giving birth pain, this is for you.:worship:

My first child was delivered naturally (except for a needed episiotomy), I was unmedicated. And I felt like all my innerds, guts etc were coming out with the baby. The pressure on my body during labor was OMG terrible. Thank God it only lasted 3 hours and then birth. I waited 6 years to try for another one because I was afraid to go though that again. Second baby was laying sideways and it felt like he had grabbed on to my intestines and was pulling them out with him. (Impossible, I know, but that's what it felt like. After 23 hours of manipulating him to try to make him turn, they finally did a c-section. And guess what? NO MORE BABIES FOR ME!

Getting my wisdom teeth pulled was no picnic, but they drugged me up enough so it wasn't too bad. I hate going to the dentist, especially when I have a cavity. That machine does torturous things to my brain. But still, I'd rather go through that again than go through childbirth again.

A woman went to her dentist and said, I'd rather give birth that get a tooth pulled. The dentist said "well, let me know so I can adjust the chair correctly."

Completely agree with you!!

I had my two children completely naturally, no drugs of any kind (I wanted 'em but doctor said no) and I would prefer to do that all over again rather than sit in the dentist's chair. Thus the reason I haven't been there in years. :( I know I should go, but I just can't make myself even call to make the appointment. Big, big fear. :guilty:

Getting teeth pulled was no problem for me. Having an abscessed tooth OTOH was excruciating.

yeah ok....we all know if men had to give birth the human race would have died out years ago. Men are the biggest babies when it comes to pain.

Yes, I would rather have dental work than give birth again (2 kids all natural no drugs..not by my choice...stupid Air Force hospital wouldn't give them to me) but I think the OP is talking about dental pain which is way different than the pain of dental work. I've had tooth pain before that pretty much made me delirious with pain. Thanks to a rash of broken bones in the past 7 years, I've been in pain pretty much every day since 2004, but I'll take all that over dental pain any day of the week!

Three regular births on the highest dose of pitocin (got epidural right away with the 2nd, but labored hours without one with #1 and #3), one c/s with my twins, and no pain comes close to a dry socket after wisdom teeth removal (the 3 teeth that didn't have the dry socket were pretty much pain free, probably because the dry socket was so bad, I felt nothing with the others). If only I could lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks again...

Yeah, I have an abcess beneath 3 of my left lower teeth, way in the back. This is a throbbing, cant get away from it, all over the left side of my skull, kind of pain. I started on antibiotics yesterday afternoon and the dentist said I should feel some relief by today. I hope he's right. Physical pain rarely brings me to tears, but twice I was in tears with this pain. :sad1:

And I am taking a prescription pain killer but it's barely touching the pain. :headache:

Aw...I hope you feel better soon!

DD got 4 wisdom teeth removed yesterday. Her friend got a nose job the same day. DD said her pain was worse than her friend's. They discussed it and then called 3rd friend who had a nose job last summer and wisdom teeth removed last week - and she agreed that the wisdom teeth were worse than the nose job. So while none of them can compare it to childbirth, there is a consensus about cosmetic surgery. ;)
