Dental crown issues

I got a dental crown in Feb or March. I've had it adjusted twice. At first i was able to eat soft food and felt a lil sensitive when id eat hard stuff. I just felt one smal section needed to be filed down/adjusted,so i went in. The dentist said she could only file down a lil so she did. Went home and it felt more sensitive only when i eat medium to hard stuff. I went back in. The dentist said it didnt show on the xray that there was a root infection or that i needed a root canel ( she knows I was afraid of root canel). She filed down a lot more the 2nd time and it felt better and I could grind side to side without issues. She had me bite down on a q-tip and no problem. I was thinking great it fixed. I get home and take it easy, but i still cant eat medium- to hard stuff. Its like theres something still not right. It doesnt hurt if I eat soft stuff. The dentist at one point even filed the molar above the tooth and said sometimed when i bite it might be hitting the upper molar ( my problem tooth is on bottom). The teeth on my left side are now being over worked, my lower tooth with molar/crown(current issue ) is driving me nuts because I cant eat hard stuff. the upper molar she filed incase the bottom was hitting it feels sensitive. My teeth just feel bad.

so Now I need to call . This will be the 3 time trying to get it right. There are other dentist in thos office so I dont know if I should let the dentist try and fix it, request another dentist to look at it. I dont know if another dentist looks at it if insurance will pay. Another think is the crown looks a lil different from my other crowns i got at another dentist office( dentist retired-loved him) looks like the crown thats inner closer to the tongue looks shorter so i'm wondering if junk is leaking in or if I will need a root canel.

I have my cleaning nextweek. Has anyone had an issue like this with a crown? With my previous dentist that retired, that was awesome, he put a crown on and it needed a lil adjustment and I was fine. Now with my current crown issue going on the 3rd time i'm getting fusturated

At this point I would seek advice from a different dentist. As far as my insurance goes, they don't care who I go to, they will pay what ever it is that they are supposed to.

Sounds like you may need a root canal, it sometimes can happen after a crown prep. Make sure you go to an endodontist and not a general dentist. You could always make your cleaning with another dentist and get a second opinion then if you can wait that long. Sometimes they can bump the crown off or go thru the crown. A root canal will not hurt if you go to someone who knows what they are doing. Mine took 20 minutes (for a bicuspid) and I didn't feel a thing.

Sometimes when a crown or filling is high you bruise the periodontal ligament. This ligament holds the tooth within the socket and also acts like a shock absorber. When this gets bruised it can take a week or so to get better but it should get a little better every day. I would have the dentist that did it check the bite again. The dentist can also grind a little away from the opposing tooth also. You will NOT be bothering the dentist by going back in multiple times, sometimes this happens.

When I got my crown the tooth beneath was a little tender for a couple of weeks. You might give it a few days and see if it gets better and if not seek a second opinion.

I had my 2nd adjustment on June 5 th where dentist grind it down a lot .

My 2nd adjustment was done on June 5 th. dentist grinded it a lot . I also notice when I floss one side is a lil sensitive so not sure if near that area there's a high spot. Before putting the crown on I mentioned I'm worried that I'd need a root camel. I had a bad experience a couple years ago where they did a crown and root camel and it was bad experience, so I get a lil nervous but if I need a root canal then I hope this time it's a better experience. She told me if I did need a root Canel she had a good doctor that would do it.

I had a crown done several years ago that always felt sensitive, even 5 years later. It didnt hurt but was sensitive to cold and sweet and I did go back to the dentist a few times. He unfortunately died suddenly before we could figure out what was wrong. I just stopped eating on that side of my mouth until one day I was eating a caramel and my whole crown fell off. The dentist I saw after that said it sounded like it was not sealed properly long, horrible story but ended up spending almost $7000 on a failed root canal and crown then finally found an excellent dentist but needed an implant. Keep going back until it is resolved. Hopefully your dentist doesn't suddenly "expire" before you figure it out!

I've got 9 crowns, some installed close to 40 years ago. Other than a day or so of swelling the gum around it, never had tooth pain with a crown.
My issue is crowns is, they always feel like oversized teeth to me, bigger than the original tooth they are covering.
I'd go back to the dentist.

That is a mind numbing amount. Pretty darn close to what my 9 crowns and 2 root canals cost, combined, before insurance payments.

Sorry to confuse you. The $7000 was for the failed root canal and crown then the implant. Now that I think of it, it was probably a bit more than that because I also had to pay for the extraction.
